Guest guest
I had the best luck with just trying to break up the beeswax into " chunks " (using a chisel and hammer) and then melting it and pouring it into smaller molds. The only thing that I grated with my grater was my knuckles (ouch!) - Ela (000)___(000) Ela Heyn / @ @ \ ferret@... | | ======@====== http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/5483
Guest guest
Colleen, I melted the whole thing, and poured it into small candy molds. then I have like one oz size pieces. OR you can put it in the freezer, let it get really brittle, put it in a heavy plastic bag and throw it on the floor or hit it with a hammer. It breaks into peices Lotion Bars again I forgot to ask this before! I've got a pound brick of beeswax. How do you guys normally cut this stuff up? I tried grating it and that did not work. Cutting it with a straight knife wasn't going so well, until dh got the idea to heat up my knife! And when you are melting the beeswax, where do you do it? I started off using the pyrex measuring cup in the microwave, but that didn't seem to be getting me anywhere. Then I used a stainless steel pan, and that worked great. I then transferred that to my measuring cup so I could pour into the tubes. Thanks again for the help! Guest guest
I used to try and grate it but the last time I just took the whole block and melted it in my homemade double boiler. After it was all melted, I poured it into a tupperware pan so that it was only about 1/2 " thick. Once it hardens again, it lifts right out and you can just break it off like peanut brittle. My fiance is a beekeeper but still kinda new to it. He started it up 2 years ago to pollinate his grandfather's fields. The honey is delicious but I've just now got him gathering the beeswax for me. Guess now I have to get used to straining and refining. Me and my big mouth! Katy > I forgot to ask this before! I've got a pound brick of beeswax. How do > you guys normally cut this stuff up? Guest guest
I freeze it and then put it in a heavy plastic bag and drop it on the cement floor.
