Hi Everyone -

A quick note to say hello -- my cath at Children's went well -- they found pretty much what they expected. The dr. said basically the pressure was the same in my ventricle and aortic artery (or something like that) and it was more or less like not having a pulmonary valve at all (guess that might explain some of the problems) -- he said some people can go like that for awhile before developing symptoms, but usually it catches up with them and they start to have arrhythmia's, shortness of breath, chf symptoms etc. etc. -- he is recommending open heart surgery to the surgical team at their conference today and we should know more about a date this afternoon. He thinks it will be sometime in the next 1 or 2 weeks. I guess if you don't get it fixed, it can eventually cause your right ventricle to enlarge and damage the muscle and then they can't fix it, so I guess it's better to get it done while my heart is overall still relatively healthy ... plus... I'm just plain ready to feel better -- even climbing one flight of stairs sets off about a half an hour of pretty yucky rhythms. Last night, I kept feeling/hearing it (the icd) charging up, but thankfully, it didn't zap. Can the rest of you guys feel or hear it when it charges up to zap like that? Of course, the lightheadedness and ringing in my ears is usually a pretty good indicator too. :) -- Anyway, I'll be glad when the surgery is over -- the people at Children's were all great -- seems like I'll be in really good hands. The rooms are all private and Phyl will be able to spend the night before the surgery and stuff, so that will be nice. I have to say that seeing all the brave little children going through some of the things they are going through really adds perspective as well. Some of them were just so tiny, yet still so happy and brave.

I hope all of you are doing well -- I enjoyed linking up with a few of you at the chat on Tuesday night (Stacie -- your sense of humor brought a smile to my face!) -- Thanks again for all the well-wishes, prayers, thoughts etc. that you have all been sending my way. Duffy - your e-mail and request to unite in prayer/thoughts/well-wishes etc. was very touching. What a kind thing to think of. You guys are the BEST!!

Take care -

Thanks, -- we have an appt. with the heart surgeons on May 1st (a week

from today) and should have a date after that. I'm hoping to swing by the

chat for a bit on Thursday nite -- and to watch ER a little later :) -- Hope

to catch you there! :)

ita,

For all that you're going thru you sound pretty upbeat and positive. That always helps in the process of dealing and healing. I wish for you a safe surgery and a speedy recovery. Still thinking of you each day and praying for the best.

With love and healthy thoughts,

Thanks, --

Some days are better than others, but for the most part, we just really try to stay positive and upbeat. It helps to have a lot of supportive family and friends around -- plus, my husband has been incredibly great -- he gets a big medal when all this is over!

ita :)
