Guest guest
(I am resending this as I didn't see it come back to me ..... Hank) TURK, A capacitor (old name condenser) is like a one shot battery. After each use it has to be recharged. The limitations of a battery is that it is made up of cells. The maximum voltage of each cell is one and one half volts. Flash light battery's are one cell, so if you use 2 battery's (or cells) you get 3 volts. A cell can be as large as a room, it sill has only 1.5 volts, or as small as one for a watch, the same. A capacitor on the other hand can take that 1.5 volts from the battery, and another 1.5 volts, and another, and so on until you get the maximum rating for that capacitor. It could be 10 volts or 10,000, but remember, its gone in a flash. One time only, then it has to be recharged. It is not the capacitor that goes bad. The weaker the battery gets the longer it takes to saturate the capacitor. Hank TURK wrote: Hey Guys and Gals; What is a capacitor and how do you recharge it .
