Guest guest
For some strange reason I am getting an awful yen to go to Cracker Barrel. Can't imagine why. Gotta go this weekend, or sometime soon. Jessie

Guest guest
It's here too, but the cheese company decided to own restaurants as well. It's one of those things where a food company decided to open up a chain of eateries. Kinda like Bob . Judi

Guest guest
That inedible black goo you folks call vegimite comes to mind. I have also had ANZAC cookies. I loved the taste but the texture was...well one could shoot skeet with the ones I had. Pecan pie is VERY southern. The filling is as important as the pecans though. I'd gladly corrupt your diet if you came to visit:)) Elaine Re: Info... how to blend in at the Southern Winter Weekend I must say you guys have some really weird food? Fried Apples? It was probably an American that came up with deep fried Mars bars...... I haven't tasted one, but I think a pie made out ut of pecan nuts is weird too......... I reckon I would put on 50lb if I visited USA hehehehehe Then again- you guys probably think we have weird foods here too....... >> cole slaw and fried >>apples. >> -- Leis Aussie mum to 4.5 DS and Natasha 7 months nda In 100 years time it won't matter what sort of house I lived in, what my income was, or what kind of car I drove; but the world may be a different place because I was there to help in the life of a child. Guest guest
Okay guys the chain started in the south. Elaine Re: Info... how to blend in at the Southern Winter Weekend Cracker Barrel is also a cheese here -- I use that when I make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Cracker Barrel resturants is a chain. The atmosphere is country, not southern. They have a large porch with dozens of rocking chairs for patrons to sit on while they wait - they can also purchase them. Also, they have a store that sells some neat items, including toys and household decorating items. The food is fattening -- one of their specialties is chicken and dumplins. They serve " comfort foods " - foods we had regularly when we were children (meatloaf, chicken fried steak, chicken pot pie, etc.). The last one I ate at was in Fredricksburg, VA - south of DC and not too far from where one of the victims was shot by the " sniper " . Not on the menu is their appetizer tray. Some places charge while others do not. It is cheese, crackers and pickles.
