Guest guest
You can always tell the northerners passing through. They order salad at Cracker Barrel. GEEZ. Cracker Barrel is NOT for healthy food guys. Speaking of Christmas parties. I had to eat " dressing " made in Milwaukee. It was wet white bread. Mine is made from honey cornbread. Elaine Elaine- I grew up with sage/celery dressing/stuffing made with white bread. Then I married a Hungarian and learned how to make the best stuffing (1/2 lb butter, 12 eggs, in inards in the bag all chopped up, an onion, celery, carrots and bread soaked in water and then wrung out. The only spice is a bit of pepper and salt. Of course I left out the directions...lol. I can't stomach cornbread stuffing. I don't order salad at Cracker Barrel..I get the green beans and carrots

Guest guest
Gee, I didn't know Cracker Barrel was that Southern. They have them in Minnesota. I have only eaten grits once in my life and that was at an inn in Neosho Missouri. I guess they do have that kind of stuff at Cracker Barrel but I don't get into that. I thought it was more country. We enjoy the atmosphere too, there is one just over the hill from us so we go fairly often, well some of the people there know us. We've bought some beautiful things in the store part, too. I especially like to go when it's cold out and they have a fire in the big fireplace. Most other restaurants seem kind of sterile by comparison. I will say one t hing, they don't know how to do corned beef and cabbage. Jessie

Guest guest
We have Cracker Barrel cheese here also. Cracker Barrel Restaurant is a family style, country restaurant that serves delicious food, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is what we call homestyle cooking. And they serve breakfast all day long. There is also a country store attached with food items, some clothing, lots of stuff for the home. In the restaurant itself is a brick fireplace, lots of fun during the winter. Guest guest
Cracker Barrel is also a cheese here -- I use that when I make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Cracker Barrel resturants is a chain. The atmosphere is country, not southern. They have a large porch with dozens of rocking chairs for patrons to sit on while they wait - they can also purchase them. Also, they have a store that sells some neat items, including toys and household decorating items. The food is fattening -- one of their specialties is chicken and dumplins. They serve " comfort foods " - foods we had regularly when we were children (meatloaf, chicken fried steak, chicken pot pie, etc.). The last one I ate at was in Fredricksburg, VA - south of DC and not too far from where one of the victims was shot by the " sniper " . Not on the menu is their appetizer tray. Some places charge while others do not. It is cheese, crackers and pickles.

We've bought some neat stuff in the store and of course the checker/rug set. we love that. They do make a good cream of broc soup though- only time i eat a creamy soup is there. Thats as southern as I get!
Guest guest
Leis, we have cracker barrel cheese here too. Cracker barrel is southern cousine - not at all like mcd more like a family style resturant. Whats really cool is that they got these rocking chairs all out front and they are for sale. They have like a quaint general store in the front and then a restuarant - wooden tables and chairs, big ol fireplace, very comfy and lots of interesting stuff on the walls. ~ Mom to 12 DS and Diabetes Type 1 and 8 NY
