Guest guest
Tom..... > Unfortunately, I am not to take any over the counter meds for > cough. Anybody have any suggestions of how to get rid of that feather > down there. HELP! Sounds like acute bronchitis (and no smart remarks from you, Mr. Bill, about there being nothing cute about bronchitis, heh heh). During the day, i've found that sipping ice water helps. At night, before bed, I mix up some honey and vinegar in some warm water, and sip that. Also I keep some OTC Ludens cough drops by the bedside. I'm a smoker, so when i get a cold that horrible cough thing plagues me long after the cold is gone. Hope this helps you some. Sue

Sue, Thanks for the advice. I hope it isn't bronchitis, but I have to admit when I get a coughing fit I do worry about fluid backup (CHF). I have been there before and had to be hospitalized to have the pipes drained....18 pounds worth of fluid. I am beginning to wonder if I might be allergic to our real Christmas Tree. It seems I got this head cold thing going right after we set it up. I guess that is a possibility. My wife never got the cold and we are notorius for sharing our illnesses. Oh lordy. From my experience (i only play a dr. on the Internet, heh heh), CHF coughing is 'wet' sounding. You can hear the stuff gurgling and rattling when the sufferer is coughing. But nothing comes up, unlike in a real cold/flu when you're coughing up copious amts. of icky stuff. The bronchitis cough is 'dry'. Feels like a tickle way down in your throat/upper chest. Likewise, you cough up little or nothing. I'd feel real good if you would make an appt. with your doc, pronto, and don't rely on home remedies or OTC things exc. for temp. relief till you get true medical advice. > > I am beginning to wonder if I might be allergic to our real Christmas > Tree. Sue Sue, You are absolutely right about the dry cough. And when I think about it, I did have gurgle sounds with the CHF. And as for the Christmas tree - out the door it went this morning........and it was my wife that did it. LOL. Something strange though! We looked at one of our pointsettias and it had white and black spots on the brachs. Never saw that before. So it too was sent to the great outdoors. Now, I am gonna sit back and see if I get any better with this thing. Thanks for writing. Glad you shared your pix also. I hope you got mine from the other day. Guest guest
Hi All, I am back from the flu bug or whatever had me down. Went to the doctor, which would have been great except he gave me some rotten news. They decided to read my icd while I was there and I found out the something is happening to my battery life. He tells me that I will have to have it replaced soon. Something he and I are both dreading. As I am not a good patient. you talk about your lead wire. I am not sure if my case applies to what you are talking about. When I got first aicd over back in 91. I had a terrible time with lead wires. They kept pulling loose and breaking causing me to be shocked repeatedly. I had one of those Lily four piece things. Finally they got the lead to heal six months after it was if the patch (screen) that was on my left side in my bra line came through the skin and ripped loose. That was really fun. Then 13 months to the day all hell broke loose as two wires came undone and shorted out. They caused some bad damage and they could not repair the unit no matter and they were unable to get a new one in as I had no veins or what ever to fed new leads through and the old leads could not be removed. When I got new icd finally it was in two weeks and lead wires broke again this time it was a guidant. Then they replaced that one. I have had the one I have now since 1999 and two weeks after it was in lead wire pulled loose. My doctor said it was a I in a million that this could ever happen to me again due to my past experience. Well, three months later I got bronchitis and coughed my head off and out popped my lead wire again. It happened again in 2000 and they fixed it. I have been restricted from using my arm a lot as this icd is in my sight shoulder chest area and there is no where left for them to go in as I have a bunch of probes buried in me. They say new veins will come of where the probes are. Yeah Right.

It's (CHF cough) pretty unmistakable. In the early stages, only the person (or his/her physician, using a stethoscope) can hear it distinctly. But when it gets worse, it's pretty obvious. Have you tried using the non-medicated OTC cough drops, or the honey/lemon warm drink yet? Or has it resolved itself on its own? Are you getting a good night's sleep yet? That so important to all of us, and esp. so to those of us with other health probs. > before. So it too was sent to the great outdoors. If you've decorated your home for the holidays with scented candles, you might want to put those away too. They can be very irritating to sensitive folks' airways. We can't use 'em around here, due to the birds... who have even more sensitive respiratory systems than we people types have. And just to be safe, you might want to change your furnace filters too. Yep, got your pic.... what a babe! Sue (Resident Worriwart/Nag) -- " She was not quite what you would call refined. She was not quite what you would call unrefined.
