My neurologist handles all of my pain needs, as it is caused by my neck condition. If she feels I need physical therapy, she prescribes it. She is willing to try anything that will help with the pain. She will even have the ER contact her first, if it gets that bad, and direct them in my care.

Hi Aisha and all,

Yeah, I know that I am seeing very few docs compared to some.... my mum sees an endo, a renal specialist, a liver surgeon, a gastro., and an opth.

Don't know why, I have this phobia of docs. I just get tongue tied when I see them? Especially my neuros and endo. Although the endo had been seeing my mum for many years before he started seeing me, so I actually know him for a long time, but I am still TOUGUE TIED when I see him..... Anyone in the same boat as me?

So you are not seeing a pain management doc at all? Your neuro sounds really great. The situation is terrible here, our records in the hospital are not easily accessed by the hospital's emergency dept. They will only trace our hospital records when we are admitted, so we can forget about them contacting the docs for you.

I guess you could say he is my primary for pain. I see him and have a pain

contract so that no one else treats me for the pain but him. This way he

knows I am in serious pain and not just looking for drugs which around here

where I am at we have alot of that. I have been meaning to send Aisha my drs

name and address because it took me so long to find this one(because my

migraines and fibro dont respond to anything but narcotics) and I know how

it is and would like to recommend him to others who are close enough to see

him. I hope this helps you. If you need more info on my dr here in Missouri

please email me and I will let you know all about him. I might also be able

to speak with him on your behalf and maybe if you are not close enough for

him he could maybe refer you to someone closer to you. He goes all over the

states and places for the seminars and such and could probably let you know

about a dr closer to you. Please let me know if I can help.

Ling I should have told you I also have a neuro and a regular MD dr but

because of the pain contract that the dr and I have together-he is the only

one who treats me and I also had to agree to use only one pharmacy. I took

this contract to all the drs and the pharmacy so that they would all know I

was sincere about wanting meds for pain not for pleasure.

Hi Tina1,

<<I guess you could say he is my primary for pain. I see him and have a pain contract so that no one else treats me for the pain but him. This way he knows I am in serious pain and not just looking for drugs which around here where I am at we have alot of that. >>

I took this contract to all the drs and the pharmacy so that they would all know I was sincere about wanting meds for pain not for pleasure.>>

Thanks for that information. So I guess it is ok that I just let the pain doc treat my pain, and only get referrals back to the neuro from him when neccessary? Really hate to see the neuro, he is really unsympathetic...

I know how it is and would like to recommend him to others who are close enough to see him. I hope this helps you. If you need more info on my dr here in Missouri please email me and I will let you know all about him.

Thanks, I am really very touched by your offer, but I live in Singapore, so I think it gets rather difficult to do it.

However, my pain management doc is also from the States, from Louisiana [sp?], I think.

A great guy. Wonder if your doc knows him? ^_^
