Guest guest
This code was one of several that were deleted from the CPT Code as of the start of 1999. This was part of the development of the manual therapy code (97140), which is defined as Manipulation, mobilization, and other manual therapies. The use of 97140 has proved to be troublesome in conjunction with chiropractic manipulative therapy codes (98940 - 98943). Some insurers will not honor the manual therapy code at all if billed with CMT, others will require it to be submitted with modifier "59" (97140-59), implying a distinct and separate procedure to another area. For more information see the articles at Sig 's ChiroView Presents.com: http://www.chiroviewpresents.com/faq2/2.10.htm http://www.chiroviewpresents.com/faq2/49.4.htm If there is any mechanical component, consider 97012 (mechanical traction).
