Been busy all day and it looks like I missed alot....

Lets see if I can cover everything here.....

Deb,

Your on the right track with scenting HP...I usually go with the 1tlb per LB

of soap, but I always throw in an extra dash :) You have to go with your

nose too....if the scent is light in the bottle then go with that extra

dash.....a strong sent you can get away with not filling the measuring spoon

to the top. With my green tea FO I use a tad over a TLB so maybe you were

just a bit low on the amount. The only problem I've run into with adding

scent to the hot soap is what I told you on the phone the other day...the

fumes...ohhh those fumes will kill your inner nose in a second especially

any citris EO...as long as you stir it in quick it seems to cool the soap

enough to keep the heat from doing anything funky to it.The only problem I

had with a scent going north errr south was an FO that didn't begin it's

life smelling like it should have....it was cotton candy from soap crafters

and it smelled like bubblegum in the bottle....I use it now for bubblegum

scent soap for kids :)

G......ohhh your on your way to CP fast lady

ohhh wait....wanna learn HP?? :) I'll gladly teach ya! lol

That M & P deal sounds sweet...you should open a distributorship for it :)

I'd be interestead in some....I don't use much..just for loofah

scrubbies....all my M & P stinks...the colors are way off or they bleed so I

hung up that soapmaking apron for awhile. I've been wanting to play around

with adding herbs and clays and anything else that isn't fancy looking....I

think I'd have better luck going that route.

Your curlie-ques in the PVC sound way cool! I tried doing that sort of thing

once. My over pour was too hot and I lost all my curlie-ques lol

Shaye.....Do you mind if I save all the " You might be a soapmaker if... "

emails your sending through and maybe post them to on the cny site when we

get enough piled up?

Sounds like we have a mini gathering in the works....hope you all have a

great lunch!

So where was I all day?? Making soap of course! :) Made an interesting batch

of shampoo bars...I've been working on the formula on paper for about 6

months and finally gave it a shot....cphp of course. Here goes...at 12:40 I

had my oils heated and melted in the crock then weighed out my lye and water

and mixed those together and added them to the oils in the crock....this was

a larger batch then I normally make so I was using my 6qt crock. I stirred

and got a really quick trace. ok at this point I put the cover on and

thought it would do it's cooking thing....NOT. it just sat there...the crock

was too big and the soap was sitting below heating eliment area. So I

dragged out my smaller crock and plugged it in to warm up. When I opened the

6qt to pour the soap into the smalled crock I had think brownie batter type

stuff. So I glopped this mess into the smaller crock and put the lid

on.....it didn't cook....in fact it looked like my finished HP!! I thought

....what the heck...it smelled like all the lye was gone so I did the tongue

test....and wouldn't you know it....it was soap!! No cooking involved...I

added my extras and glopped the mess into the molds and was cleaned up by 10

minutes after 1:00 30 minutes! I've never seen this happen, but I love the

end result. I washed my hair, used a teaspoon of vinagar in a full glass of

water for a rinse and my hair feels great!

ER's on....gotta run!
