Guest guest
Greetings Everyone.... Ready for the holidays? In this week's Zapper Newsletter... I'll share memories of my ICD implant, 2-days after Christmas four years ago. Talk about shocking gifts! http://www.duff.net/zapper is the URL to get there. In this edition, I also admit to making a few potentially dangerous diet mistakes. Even for normal people (whatever that is) the holidays can be a stressful period. Get some help dealing with the anxiety by joining our ZapChat tonight (Thursday) at 8PM EST. Our guest is Ann -Hough, RN. You may remember what an enlightening program we had when she was our guest a few months ago. Access the program from the Newsletter navbar, or go to http://www.duff.net/zapper/chat/freechat. Have YOU sent in a submissions for the Zap•Life project? If not, we urge you to take a few moments to complete the appropriate form (one for ICD recipients, one for friends and family, and a third for health care professionals.) Anyone taking the time to complete and ship a form gets a free copy of the book when published. Go to http://www.duff.net/zapper/zap3.htm to proceed. Important items in the news this week available on our BREAKING NEWS page: • FDA clears Marketing of Guidant Ventak Mini-4 (Guidant) • A process called photopheresis shows promise in helping (heart) transplant patients (MSNBC) • Interview with Guidant CEO (NewsPage) • Dupont and Barr each win a battle in the Warfarin War (NewsPage) • Every year since 1984, heart and blood-vessel disease has killed more women than men in the United States (MSNBC) At the Bayfront ICD Support Group yesterday, I raised a question about devices to treat Atrial Fibrillation. It turns out, Dr. Shepherd at Bayfront is involved in "investigational" implants of the unique defibrillators. His comments were an eye opener, because he said he's not sure an implanted device is an appropriate solution for most people. I'll do my best to see if we can get Dr. Shepherd to join us for a ZAPCHAT after the first of the year. He is also doing some remarkable work with ablation, another issue of interest to a lot of our readers. In the meantime... join us tonight if you can... Above all.... Stay well....
