As you can see... there are some important headlines relating to the treatment of arrhythmia this week. Try to give them a read on our ZAPPER NEWS PAGE. The studies on T-Wave Alternans and public use of external defibrillators are particularly interesting for us. For many who wrote asking if I was ill when I missed the Zap•Chat last week... thanks for your concern - but I am fine. I was attending a meeting, which ran long and I never got home in time. I may miss a lot of sessions between now and Election Day, so please don't worry. A lot of candidate forums seem to fall on Thursdays. We now have a fourth weekly Zap•Chat, organized by Eileen. That is at 10PM EST on Monday, which may make it easier for west coast 'Roos and others sprinkled around the world. So here are ALL the regularly scheduled support group times (EST US Times) as of now: Monday, 10PM Tuesday, 9AM Thursday, 8PM Saturday, 1PM In case you have not discovered: Many folks look in the Zap•Chat room at other times, just to see if anyone is there. Not infrequently more than one person pops in at the same time... and voilá: Instant (impromptu) support group! More than a few folks have suggested we initiate an instant messaging service so we can tell when other ICD folks are on line. OK, let's do it. Some already using the AOL program may have figured out I have been testing this for a while, when I have surprised you with a, "Hello there!" If you are using a recent edition of Netscape, the AOL messenger program came with it. Just activate the free service. You may want to pick a screen name that has "Zap" in it so other ZapBuddies will know you. Again, those who have seen me testing know I go by ZapDuff. If you do not have the (2 MEG) program, get it from Download.com. Then create a ZapFolks buddy list. To get a list of ICD people using that service CLICK HERE. Just copy and paste each name into your contact list. Don't forget to EMail me with your screen name so I might add it to the list! I can already predict many of you will connect simultaneously... When that happens just have everyone move to the Zap•Chat page! Enjoy! Sorry for the brevity of this message (you all have lots to read on the NEWS PAGE!,) but running for Congress takes a big bite out of the clock. If ANY of you want to contribute an article... just fire it off to me! A reminder to all our readers who are professional care givers: Please take part in the survey being conducted by one of our frequent contributors, Maneesh Shrivastav. If your career brings you into contact with pacemakers and/or pacemaker users, in any way... please: CLICK HERE and take a few minutes to take part in this important research. For most of our readers who live with a life saving device inside them, please take a moment to write down this URL... http://www.ZapLife.org/pacemakersurvey.html. Give it to all the professionals with whom you have contact... and ask them to take part in this survey. Maneesh will share the results with us after the first of the year. That's all for now. Stay well! Duffey, Zapper Publisher
