Guest guest
Stacie, we have our youngest child who is 2-1/2 yrs old, is fond of sitting on her rear haunces and watching the world go by. Her name is Princess, and she is a 90lb black Labrador. Princess even saved my life one time. My favorite thing to do is write. I'm working on a book about my life reviews during my numerous near-death episodes. I have had 155 shocks. So, I do understand. I have a poem published that I wrote when I gave myself a pity party. No one came so it didn't last long. I have 76 articles published by www.themestream.com. I also began cross-stitching as a career vs my hobby. I understand about friends, they sure disappeared once I got ill. I've been looking for a support group for six years. I'm so glad I've met you. I live on the north shore of the Clear Lake in Ca. It is CA's largest natural lake being 110 miles around. I live in a tiny town called Nice (niece) named after the town in France. What do you do in Indiana? ly, there is only resort fishing and diamond collecting near me. Love, Jeannie Re: icd patient > > > > > > > hi my name is stacie i'm 17 i have had my icd aka jumpy since fab 26 > 1998 > > > i have vt and aflutter which was caused from cardiomyopathy and other > > heart > > > probloms and health probloms i would love to talk to you if you want i > > > presntly waitinmg for a heart transplant > > > > > > stacie,17 > > > > > > > > > > > > Please visit the Zapper homepage at > > > http://www.ZapLife.org > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Please visit the Zapper homepage at > > http://www.ZapLife.org > > > > > > > > Please visit the Zapper homepage at > http://www.ZapLife.org > >
Guest guest
Dear Bill, my name is Jeannie and forgive me for reading your missive to Stacie, but I'm new and trying to meet the fellow members. I was cancelled by Kaiser HMO due to living too far out of there boundaries. So, I live in Lake County and travel the 87 miles to Santa for the nearest Electrophysiologist. My doctors all agree on only one thing and that is what made me begin my search for other ICD/IPCD patients, they do not know what is wrong with me. My heart is at 99% healthy. Now it is weakening from all the therapy administered. So, my doctors have sent me home with no light at the end of the tunnel. I have learned bio-rhythm techniques which did not work last night. The unit had to be geri-rigged for me, as last year I had a double mastectomy (cancer) and my subclavia collapsed. So, after a failed open heart to place the unit in, four days later, they were sucessful sawing through my sternum and sewing patches with the lead wires on my actual heart. So, I really.... feel the therapies. I've had my devices since 1994 when I used to be a Corporate Controller. Now, I'm writing and cross-stitching for money. Love, Jeannie Re: icd patient > > > > > > > > > > hi my name is stacie i'm 17 i have had my icd aka jumpy since fab 26 > > 1998 > > > > i have vt and aflutter which was caused from cardiomyopathy and other > > > heart > > > > probloms and health probloms i would love to talk to you if you want i > > > > presntly waitinmg for a heart transplant > > > > > > > > stacie,17 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Please visit the Zapper homepage at > > > > http://www.ZapLife.org > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Please visit the Zapper homepage at > > > http://www.ZapLife.org > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Please visit the Zapper homepage at > > http://www.ZapLife.org > > > > > > Please visit the Zapper homepage at > http://www.ZapLife.org > >
Guest guest
Mike, I hope you stay zap free for a very long time. Let's pray you do. What meds do you take to keep v-tach under control? Sue
Guest guest
Wow, Stacie what you have endured through. Bless you. I wasn't very dramatic. I had worked a full day as a Corporate Controller (fancy for bookkeeper) and I came home, voted, cooked dinner for my family and sat down to watch tv. My daughter tells me that I was laughing at some silly joke, turned to her and said " , I'm dying. " and promptly fell in her lap and 'died.' When I awoke some 12 days later in a city some 4hrs south of where I lived, they told me that my hubby had okayed the device to be implanted. That was on the 20th of Nov. 94. I expected to continue my current lifestyle but was soon awakend to the fact my heart didn't agree. Finally, I had to face the fact that for me, the Lord had given me a final coffeebreak! Shadow sounds like a lovely dog. I bet very devoted to you. Guest guest
Hello ffish! Welcome to the club. If I remember right you said you have Ventricular Tachycardia (?) Did you just become the proud owner of a new dual-chamber AICD? We can all laugh, but as someone recently posted, we sure are lucky we have this technology available. Debbie, maybe you can help here--I realize each of us have our devices for different reasons, but I wonder now if they just automatically give AICDs to patients with " dual-chamber " (atrial & ventricular) capacity automatically instead of single-chamber like I have(?). They used to give defibs & pacemakers separately--now everyone gets the combo. Is this the same rationale? I don't know if I am correct about this. And ffish (don't know your name), did you have different events that lead up to your having the AICD? You're very young, if I remember correctly. Keep moving forward--push hard--every day gets better! Take Good Care, Fondly,

Guest guest
, you are not going to go through this alone like I did. That is why I've been searching for the right support group. My hospital's one meets in San Francisco, well that is a 3 hr drive south of where I live. The one nearer me was insensitive to persons that seemed to not 'bounce' back immediately, so I didn't go (they made me more scared.) I will appreciate your time and will listen. Guest guest
Hello Sue, Sorry for the delay in answering your questions. Haven't been on-line for a few days. Besides Aspirin, Vitamins, and coumadin the meds that I take are Zestril (10mg a day) and Antenolol (50mg a day). The V-tach has all, but disappeared. Not gone completely, but no more ones. I have only had one episode of passing out, and that occurred while jogging. Some of the cardiologist said that was very close to being sudden cardiac death, and that's when they decided to put the AICD in. But, prior to that they also found and had to by-pass 3 blocked arteries. Oh, I take Zocur too, for cholesterol. Take care and stay healthy. Guest guest
Hello Jeannie, Welcome to the group! I sure hope not to have any zaps, but at least I know it's there now if needed. My V-tach was brought on through heart damage caused by an MI in March at 41. Long family history of heart disease. Just found out about it too late, and then by-pass was needed at 41 yrs. old. Never in my wildest dreams!!! I said it once and I'll say it again this group has done more for me than any medicine could ever do. They all have picked me up, and gave me the confidence I needed. Great group of folks here...Take care and stay healthy. Mike Central,PA. Stcapital7@...
Guest guest
Thank you so much for you e-mails, they are veray encouraging. Do you have a problem with weight? Guest guest
Phylis: Read your zap-post about weight. I have been going crazy with this. Seams everytime I get on the scale, it screams at me to get off. I have only had this problem since getting sick. At that time I weighed l37, I am ashamed to say what I weigh now. I kept thinking it has to be the medication as my thyroid level is OK. (Ialso take synthroid) The other day I was told that the Paxil I take for depression can cause the weight gain. I have tried to be so careful with diet to no avail. Sue

What goes on, how many times a month, who leads it, and what do you discuss. If you can answer some of these questions I would really appreciate it. Guest guest
I am from New York City and there are no support groups that I know of. I have had my ICD for almost two years. The last time it went off it was really scary and that is why I need a group to help me overcome the fear. Every time I get lightheaded I am afraid it will go off again. I know I should be grateful that I have one otherwise I would not be walking on this planet, nevertheless our mortality rings loud and clear when this thing goes off. Guest guest
Sharon, Check with your doctor about the prozac. The shrink I go to told me that the paxil I taked could definitely cause the weight gain. I am going to think about coming off gradually and see what happens. Let us know what comes up with the therory your shrink is working one. Sue
