Guest guest
Shaye, Making soapballs was the first thing I thought of, but it sticks to your hands so badly that you can hardly scrape it off. I think I should just tar the roof with it. What if I boiled the hell out of it for a couple of hrs, do you think that would do any good. I did the tongue test with the shavings, and it does not burn, so do you think maybe there wasn't enough lye. I can't believe I could make a mistake like that 4 times though. Or do you think it didn't trace, and I thought I did. No matter what I come up with, I can't believe it would happen this many times. Guest guest
What do you mean molding it unbaked? I have shredded it. Kathy
Guest guest
Kathy can you make soap balls with it? Just take some in your hands and make like you are making a snowball. Shaye rebatching a few bad batches of soap My olive oil and crisco soap is going to be a thing of the past, I have 4 batches that are like rubber when I remelt it. Can someone tell me what to do to save some of this mess. I hate to pitch it all in the garbage, but I have no idea what to do to make it better. Thanks , Kathy
Guest guest
If its too rigid when its baked why not try molding in it unbaked. Worth a try.... Shaye
Guest guest
OOps sorry Kathy I forgot to change the title of the email. Hmm Im not sure, I dont thing boiling it is the answer.. Maybe just let it set it out for anoter day or two and then try and work it into balls when its not soo sticky. Im not sure what else to say. I try to avoid rebatching whenever possible. I havnt done it for a couple of years. Sorry Kathy Shaye

Guest guest
I'll bet you are rebatcing with way too much liquid? I started out years ago using rebatch techniques and was on a list that was mainly rebatch(soapcrafters) and I started using the crock with just 1/2 cup milk(for olive based soaps) to 1 lb shreds. If you want to do balls from rebatch or even CPHP you can pour it out onto your counter with some butcher paper(shiney side up of course so it wont stick) and let it cool down as well as firm up, and then make your soap balls. I take a knife and cut a grid into the layer of soap and it makes them equal..I made some ROCK soaps using blue/grey CPHP with some Cool Water added and merketed it in wooden crates in excelsior with a tag that said " TO THE ROCK IN MY LIFE " at Christmas. I had molded them by hand into what looked like an oblong river rock and the soap was speckled as my coloring of HP is not down pat yet(don't laugh at me Terri ) HTH Debbie rebatching a few bad batches of soap > My olive oil and crisco soap is going to be a thing of the past, I have 4 > batches that are like rubber when I remelt it.
