Guest guest
, I wasn't using any kind of receipe, I just melted the two colors. There was no film over either of them, so I don't think they had cooled down. I did it with three different colored soaps, and it happened to all of them. I can't believe the very first M & P soaps I did, I did this way and didin't have a problem at all, and I didn't know anything at that point. That shows you how far I have come in a couple of months, or should I say slipped back. Do people acturally get dummber as time goes on. I am thinking it is age, and I am sticking to that. Guest guest
Shaye, Well I guess I should start using a thermometer with my M & P, I didn't think it was that important, but I guess it is. Thanks for the tip, I am sure you will be hearing from me a lot. I am not as smart as my cuz.
Guest guest
Shaye, I didn't mean anything, I was just being smart. I get so frustrated because sometimes it seems like I just don't understand things. I think you are right about the kids, mine is 25, and she has passed me many times over. This CP soap really has me baffeled. I have wasted so many supplies, and I refuse to give up until I get it right. Maybe I am more pigheaded and dumb. My dad has been real sick, and has to have surgery, and I know my mind is elsewhere. I have been doing the soap just to keep myself occupied until he can get this surgery over with. I guess sometimes I am just not paying attention to what I am doing. I really do appreciate the help though because I don't want to get so frustrated that I stop making soap. Guest guest
Boy Kathy. You're having all sorts of problems, aren't you. You didn't give up on you CP soapmaking, did you? Are far as the swirling in M & P, I would have to say that it had something to do with the temp. of the soaps. That's the first thing that came to mind. Maybe the first pour had cooled off too much when you went to add the blue swirl? OR, the blue soap was too cool to blend. Temperature is a big part of a lot of the problems you can encounter doing soaps of any kind. Were you just experimenting or were you going by one of Kaila's recipes in her book? Your Cuz Prob. w/ M & P The first M & P I made about 2 months ago, I made a white soap with a realy nice blue swirl in them, and I haven't made them again until tonight. I think I did everything the same, but when I put the colored soap in to swirl, it stayed on top. I couldn't seem to get it to go through the whole soap. Does anyone know what I did wrong. Guest guest
Hi Kathy! Nice to meet you! I was thinking the same thing as about the soap not sweirling. Sounded like a Temp thing. Maybe the white had gotten too cold to swril a wamer temps soap. I know that when you swirl CP, the consistency of the two makes a big difference. Good luck! Guest guest
Kathy, I was not saying your not smart, only that it was a possiblility that the tempswas too cool. Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not smart. I have my share of " happy " accidents. I think that every batch of soap has its own personality if you will, and it either is gonna behave or its not. Kinda like kids... no predicting... Recently someone told me that the older our kids get the dummber we get. Guest guest
Hey I know you must be referring to your cuz, Carol (Martha ). hehe I just assumed you were using a thermometer with your M & P. I use mine a lot but I am finding that once you get used to making it, you more or less know by the temp of the bowl & such what the temp is. I use the therm. the most when I do overpours so as not to melt what I'm pouring over. Just remember what Kaila says the (4?) temp. ranges that the soap bois, (too hot) melts to correct temp, cooled for pouring temp, and set (skin on top) temp. Once you get used to those, you'll be fine. Cuz Re: Prob. w/ M & P Shaye, Well I guess I should start using a thermometer with my M & P, I didn't think it was that important, but I guess it is. Guest guest
Yup, Kathy. Remember what I said a few days ago about our age? I feel the same way. Alzheimers is starting to set in. By the way, what's up with Uncle Ralph? Is there a date set yet for surgery? That Alzheimers is here again - is this the surgery for the aneurysm or the other problem? Also. don't get mad at me but I mentioned it to Dad. So I'm trying to keep him & Mom updated. Send me an email (my addy) and explain to me both things going on with him so I can explain it to Dad. If something happens to him and Dad finds out that I knew about it all along, he'd be so hurt he'd probably take me out of their will.
