Guest guest
I am going to restart again my LL....I am going to try to post more because it does keep me more accpountable. Have a great day! Connie Hello, Connie and others, I am new to the Life Lift breathing technique...I had been doing aerobics for many years, but my knees were starting to be affected by the impact, so I had to find another form of exercise...I started doing yoga, but in the present heat and humidity, with no air-conditioning in the room where I was practicing yoga, it was difficult...I came upon the Life Lift website, and ordered the basic DVD, and started doing the breathing daily. I started with 40 breaths a day, and now I am up to 120 breaths a day. My question is...I have much weight to lose, as I have been unemployed for five years, and so have been very sedentary, and also have put on weight due to being on antidepressants, as many people do...and I am 55 years old, and going through menopause, and my metabolism feels incredibly slow, as I am finding it incredibly difficult to lose weight...so is it really possible to lose weight consistently (I don't expect or demand any overnight miracles) doing this type of breathing? I am not doing the various postures...I am just doing the breathing standing up. I enjoy it very much, and it does improve my mood...but is there anything else I should be doing (besides, obviously, healthy diet), or is the basic " standing-up " version, 120 breaths a day, sufficient for weight loss? I have been doing the 120 breaths " religiously " , every day... Thanks for any feedback, Janet
Guest guest
Hi Sounds like you are right on track. That is excellent. I try to watch the Original LL DVD once a month; just to be sure I keep doing the breath correctly. I find that as time goes by I may not be holding as long; so it's always great to review. I love the facelift too. I find it sooo relaxing. Keep posting. As Rashelle mentioned in one of her past newsletters; studies have proven that those who belong to a support group (online; in person; etc) have a much higher success rate. How is everyone else doing here? It would be great to hear from everyone. You are all missed. Also any newbies out there; would love to hear from you as well. Take care, Wanda > > Thanks Wanda, it's good to be back I did good with the breathing the > last couple of days and just have forgotten that I was going to be > accountable! =D My goal for Sept. is to be consistent with the > beginning 40 breaths and to at least do the facelift everyday. Guest guest
Wow Janet! 120 breaths a day is awesome! I'm glad to have you here and will be waiting to see the answers to your questions. It's still a struggle for me to do the 40 breaths and it seems to come so easily to the others. I am determined not to give it up this time and I know I feel results too when I stick with it. Looking forward to getting to know you. Guest guest
Dear Thanks for your welcoming e-mail. Yes, I can do 120 breaths a day...but I couldn't exercise as vigorously as you describe yourself doing...so I admire your discipline in that area... I did running and aerobics for many years, but recently had to give it up because the impact was wrecking my knees...so this type of breathing is a Godsend for me, because vigorous exercise doesn't seem to be an option for me anymore... Also, I am unemployed, and so have the time to do the breaths, while you seem very busy...and as I said in my other e-mail, I am very motivated to do the breathing, because I so often need my mood to be elevated, and this type of breathing seems to help very much with this... Maybe if you focus more on it as a way to feel good emotionally and even spiritually, it will be kind of a different " slant " on the breathing, so you will have more motivation...believe me, I have never been an enthusiastic exerciser, so for me to do 120 of these breaths a day is really something...and I know it is because the additional oxygen is helping my mood... So, (and I write this humbly, as a " beginner " ), maybe you could think of your other forms of exercise as strictly for the body, while the LL breathing is for the body AND the spirit, and the emotions...and this could help you to become motivated to do the breathing... It is very good to meet you... Blessings, Janet -- In LifeLift , dinkidino@... wrote: Wow Janet! 120 breaths a day is awesome! Guest guest
Great Chris!!!! Connie -- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me -------------- Original message -------------- From: dinkidino@... Hi Connie, I would love to join you in your challenge. Even tho I know how great the breathing is for you, I have an awful time getting myself to actually do it. As Pat L. once said, it's good that I don't have to make myself do regular breathing! :-D Anyway, I am doing well on my plan as a whole. Am down to needing to lose only 25 pounds from 30-40 so I'm making progress and am exercising every day with a program that I bought. I have a bad knee from arthritis and hurt it badly at a gym with a trainer. After that I thought I could no longer even walk for exercise. I ended up at an orthopedic surgeon and he said no walking for exercise but do the stationary bike etc. I was limping so badly it was throwing my whole body out and was headed for a knee replacement down the road. One day I looked at our treadmill covered with boxes and thought " I am not going to let myself go down the drain because of my knee. " I moved the stuff and did 5 minutes, hanging on for support. I built up from there and believe it or not, I can now do 30 minutes and I also walk pretty much normally with not much pain. My daughter said I probably needed to build up the muscles around my knee. I am a " Flybaby " and on her web site Flylady has a virtual personal trainer. He is an actual trainer and is great. He has a program called the Momentum system and I got it and love it. He is so inspiring and if you can only do one rep, that's fine with him. He pushes but let's you be the judge of how far to push. Since joining, I've pushed myself way harder than I did on my own and it's been great. Today's exercise is intervals which I do on the bike. I used to think my intervals were good but they only lasted 30 seconds and then had a recovery time of about 2 minutes. My first time doing his I was able to do 3 minute intervals. Didn't mean to go on and on but I really want to discipline myself in the breathing too. Someone, I'm sorry I must have deleted the message by mistake but I think it was possibly , suggested to think of the other exercise as physical and the LL as spiritual. So that is my goal, maybe to incorporate it into my prayer. Connie, I'll be glad to hear how you do.
