- Rabbits

, I think you'll be disappointed to learn that I don't actually run

after the rabbits in order to catch them, although that would be a funny

sight. That is not to say that I don't run and chase them away from certain

flowers or shrubs when I catch them chomping! I have five humane traps going

at once now to catch the rabbits, opossums, and the ground squirrels. I

don't really like to trap skunks, but I've done it twice so far over the

years (once by accident). Then it's off to the forest preserve they go!

Yesterday I caught rabbit #14 (I started baiting the traps May 23rd).

Last night, I had a brush with a very large raccoon in the backyard. It gave

me quite a scare. It wasn't even dark yet. These animals are getting bolder

and bolder. I learned this evening that my next-door neighbors who left

their garage open had a few bags of garbage ripped up and strewn about. I

know who did it!

And it's not as if I live in the country. I live in a crowded suburb of

about 140,000. The battle continues ...

Actually, I miss . is with her, too, but is here with me.

and I have had a lot of one on one time - he is such good company,

even at nine years old.
