Guest guest
Hi Wanda, Yep, things are going great with me, thanks for hoping so. :-) Okay, flutter kicking is the kick a person does when swimming the American Crawl. Let's put it in perspective of sitting in a chair..... Sit in the chair, raise both legs parallel to the floor. Now with both legs straight and parallel to the floor raise the right one about two inches and lower the left one about two inches. Now switch and do the opposite so the lift one is getting raised and the right one is being lowered. Now do this quickly, up, down, up, down, up down. Or kick, kick, kick, as I used to say to my students as I was teaching them to swim and kick their way across the pool. Is it now clear as mud or do you actually understand what I'm saying??? Here is a video of a laying on your belly version of flutter kicks. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7611411340642662277 & q=flutter+kick & hl=en I do it while sitting so it builds the thigh muscle instead of the hamsting. Hope this helps, Karma Re: Thigh Exercises Hi Karma! Hope all is going well by you. If you could explain a flutter kick I'd surely appreciate because I could easily do these exercises while at work each night! So I'm getting ready to rev up! Love, Wanda. > > Hi Wanda, > I have read what others are doing and so I'll share what I do. I do a few breaths to get my body reeved up and ready to go, then I sit in a chair and flutter kick in mid air. I flutter kick until my muscles fatige and let me know they've been worked. I find myself doing this in meetings (of course I make sure I have room and am not going to be kicking the tar out of the person across the table from me!) and while working at my desk. I have noticed that my thighs are hardening up as I want them to. > > If you don't know what a flutter kick is, let me know. Guest guest
Hi, Everyone! I don't have much time to post right now, so I'll just give a quick note. I've been doing some really easy exercises to work the front part of the thigh. All I do is (when sitting), stretch my legs out in front of me and tighten up the muscles - - really all the leg muscles, but especially the quads (fronts of thighs). I'll lift, hold for a count of 8, lower, then do it again several times. I'll do some with my toes pointed and some with my toes flexed. I can feel it that I've been exercising my legs this way. I don't know yet how much it helps, but I think it probably does. I'll respond back to posts to me as soon as possible - - I haven't forgotten or neglected to answer - - I just have a lot going on right now. Love, Melinda ) Re: Thigh Exercises Hi Pat, As always thank you for your insight and encouragement. : ) I feel better as I continue to build muscle while losing weight. It definately helps rev up my metabolism and that is a great thing considering how screwed up my metabolism is due to yoyo dieting. I'm going to have to put on my creative hat and come up with things to help the front of the upper thighs. The backs of my thighs really don't have fat nor cellulite. Strange how our bodies distribute the fat; that's for sure. Hope you enjoy your swing today Pat. We had like a monsoon type of storm this morning on my way home from work; I literally pulled over for about 45minutes in hopes that the storm would settle a bit. Love, Wanda. > > >Thank you everyone for all your wonderful input. Some of the > >exercises mention I do quite often. Guest guest
Hi Melinda, I start off with my toes pointed them when my thighs are screaming for me to stop, I change them to flexed to work a different muscle. :-) I just go until the area I'm trying to tighten is aching so I know I've worked it. :-) Great to see a post from you, don't be such a stranger. LOL, isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black for me to say that!!! Karma Re: Thigh Exercises Hi Karma! Hope all is going well by you. Guest guest
Hi Rashelle, I'm glad you had time to write to the list. You are welcome for this new twist on how to incorporate Life Lift into a regular day. :-) The older I get the more I seem to find myself stuck in meetings just sitting there!!! So, out of boredom and desperation I come up with things to do so I enjoy the meetings too. I enjoy working out and having firm thighs, so there you go! :-) This particular one will give those thighs a real burn and thighten them up pretty quickly in a sitting position. Just think of your legs as Barbie doll legs that only move at the hips. No knee or ankle mobility at all. Then up and down with them and that is a pretty hard workout actually. Have fun this weekend. Guest guest
I am glad that you have a holistic doctor, Melinda. I have NEVER been fortunate enough to have had access to a holistic doctor, although I have always wanted one. I have very holistic health beliefs, but somehow have never had access to any other kind of a doctor than allopathic!!! Too bad, huh??? Guest guest
One other thing, Melinda. Most insurance companies will NOT pay for holistic medical diagnosis and treatment, but especially governmental medical/surgical payment programs, like Medicare, which is the only medical/surgical insurance I have!!! I really HATE traditional allopathic medicine and its practitioners, mainly becuase of that cortison nightmare I lived through for over 10 years back in the 1970s to 1980s, and so do not go to doctors very often. I only go maybe every 5 or 10 years. So, I am so glad that you are able to pay for the holistic medical treatment you want!!! Unfortunately, I am not lucky enough to be able to pay for what I want but must avail myself ONLY of what my Uncle Sam wants for me, which is nothing good!!!! Anyway, I thank God for this wonderful Life Lift breathing program!!! It will no doubt save me from many dangerous physical and medical conditions which I would be subject to if I didn't have it!!!! May God bless and keep our sweet, sweet Rashelle now and always!!! Love always, Pat Pat Lusher wrote: >I am glad that you have a holistic doctor, Melinda. Guest guest
Oh, I know, Pat - - I'm so very thankful for my doctor. Actually, she is a DO and our insurance pays, but she is very, very into alternatives and has even used homeopathy for us when needed. She has a massage therapist, a nutritionist, and a fitness center on site. She has someone come in who teaches Kundalini Yoga - this woman is a leukemia survivor (she got better using alternative therapies including the yoga she now teaches). Her practice also includes a chiropractor and an acupuncturist. I truly believe I'm so much better today because God led me to her 18 months ago. We're all seeing her now (even the kids) and she has made a huge difference in our lives. She was the only practitioner to suggest food allergy testing for our son to eliminate his migraines. Dh and I have gotten better with supplements and good nutrition. I was having such health problems I didn't even feel like doing LL. I'm doing it all the time now, though, and I'm looking better and feeling so much better. The folks in this practice take such a gentle, healing approach to treatment. They encouraged me to be patient and that I would eventually feel better. They were right. It sure hasn't happened overnight, but I'm so much better today because of their help. Guest guest
Hi Melinda, I have always heard of osteopaths and osteopathy as long as I can remember, but have never known what osteopathy is, actually!! Could you please tell me what osteopathy is and what osteopaths actually do??? How are their educations different from MDs???? I am curious about that!!! You know, I never thought about going to Google Search Engine and looking OSTEOPATHY up until just now, as I am typing this to you!!! But, meanwhile, until I do so, could you please tell me what an osteopath actually does and how osteopathy is different from the kind of medicine an MD practices? Wow, it sound like your doctor has much more than a PRACTICE!!! It sounds like she has an entire holistic health center there!!! I am so very glad that she has helped you so much during the last 18 years and that you are able to do Life Lift, partly because of her and her staff's intervention in your life!!!! That is really so great!!! And I am so very, very glad that your insurance pays for holistic treatment from an osteopath!!! That is very fortunate, and you are oh, so very, very lucky!!!! I have NEVER been the patient of a female doctor. How are female doctors different from male doctors? Do you notice any particular difference? I imagine that women must bring their maternal instincts into their practices with them and that they are not so arrogant as men doctors are, but then in certain ways I suppose that might not be so!!!! I have heard people tell stories about having had woman doctors who they said were real bitches!!! So, how does your experience of having a female doctor compare with having a male doctors, which, no doubt you have had at one time!! I am really curious to know what the major differences are!!! Could you please tell me????? Love always, Pat The Family wrote: >Oh, I know, Pat - - I'm so very thankful for my doctor. That a doctor should emply a yoga teacher???? Anyway, that is really wonderful that your doctor empoyes a leukemia, or, as you say, a SURVIVOR of leukemia!!!! I like your doctor!!! Too bad you (and your doctor) live all the way down in Texas and I am all the way up here in Central Vermont. But, as I said, Medicare only pays for traditional allopathic (TOXIC) treatment, so even if I did live down there in Texas or you lived up here in Central Vermont, I could not avail myself of your doctor's holistic expertise!!!! Love always, Pat The Family wrote: >Oh, I know, Pat - - I'm so very thankful for my doctor. > >Love, > >Melinda ) > Re: Thigh Exercises > >> > > >> > Hi Karma! > >> > > >> > Hope all is going well by you. > >> > > >> > If you could explain a flutter kick I'd surely appreciate because I > >> > could easily do these exercises while at work each night! Guest guest
Gee, I wish Medicare WOULD pay for holistic treatment from osteopaths and homeopaths!!! Maybe some day it will, but I doubt it!!!! Love always, Pat The Family wrote: >Oh, I know, Pat - - I'm so very thankful for my doctor. Guest guest
Once again, Melinda, I can't begin to tell you how lucky you are!!! Going to the doctor must be a very pleasant experience for you with all of the holistic stuff that your doctor and her staff do and practice!!! It's probably not at all like going to an allopath, is it?????? I imagine it must be a very pleasant experience for you, in fact. Whenever I have to go to a doctor, I ususally find myself embroiled in a fight, as... Well, I think that you must know what I am thinking, so I won't even start to put the frustrating medical experiences I have had into words!!! No use talking about something that you can't change and getting hot under the collar for no good reason at all!!! That certainly would not be good for my blood pressure, would it? Even though my blood pressure is on the low side!!! I am fortunate that my blood pressure hardly ever goes about 110/70!!! Guest guest
Hello Karma, I tried this one and I love it. Thank you. Another new one I came up with the other day is this: Stand with your fee shoulder length apart. Get into a little bit of a squat. Similar to a Pelvic Tilt, but more bended knees. Begin your LifeLift breaths and when you are in the " lift " part of the breath start moving your legs in and out as if you are trying to touch your knees, then push them out as if you are trying to force them apart. When you do this it helps if you make the motion feel as though you are resisting each movement. So when you are pushing your knees inward you will try to resist against the motion and do the same when you are pushing your knees outward. It is amazing how you can feel it through your entire leg area when you are finished. Be Healthy and take good care, Rashelle Harness the Powerful Benefits of Oxygen with LifeLift. Oxygen burns fat, tones muscles, reduces stress Be healthier with each breath you take with LifeLift www.oxygenlift.net. LifeLift is the Original Aerobic Breathing Re: Thigh Exercises Hi Karma! Guest guest
Wow, Rashelle, I bet that would be a really great exercise for inner and outer thighs. I'm going to try it tonight! Guest guest
I want to start doing the flutter exercises, but I have to build up confidence that I can do them correctly!! Wow, if I started to just one or two of Rashelle's exercises on a REGULAR daily basis, just like I do the LL breathing on a REGULAR daily basis each day, there's no telling how skinny I would get!!! Then, I would waste away to a mere nothing, and BOY, would I love that!!! 130 lbs, here I come!!!!! Guest guest
Actually, I do Rashelle's kicking exercises as often as I can, the ones where you kick each of your legs across and in front of the other once in kind of a swinging motion. Then I lift each of my legs in turn so that each leg is at right angles to each of my knees, and then I swing each leg back and forth to the sides. I have great fun when I do those exercises, but have to be very careful of my two sweet dogs, that I don't kick either of them accidentally while I am doing them!!! Wow, do I love those leg exercises, though!! I also kick my legs, first one and then the other, out in front of me and then to the back!!! Those exercises are so good for my circulaton of blood and lymph, in additon to making me feel wonderful as I do them. I find that they really and truly loosen me up!!! I also love the pretzel exercise but don't do it much because of my sweet dogs. My dogs are house dogs, and I let them roam freely wherever they want to go in my house!!!! Guest guest
Thank you so much, Rashelle, for those really wonderful leg exercises!!! But thank you most of all, for this really super duper Life Lift breathing, without which all of your wonderful exercises would be pretty ineffective!!! This secret of your whole program is your wonderful Life Lift breathing technique, so thank you so very much for having taught us all how to do it by way of your super duper videos and DVDs!!!! I will never be able to thank you enough for having saved my life with Life Lift breathing!!!
