I have always wondered how does a neurologist give a diagnosis of autism ??

Was the neurologists the one that gave your daughter's diagnosis ? We got

our daughter's diagnosis from a pyschologist quite some time ago. We had an

MRI (our first one) a few weeks ago & it turned out normal but our EEG came

bacl abnormal. We are in the process of seeing the neurologists at the

hospital..

Dr. is a developmental neurologist at the Kluge

Center in Charlottesville, VA.

I guess with all the questions she asked at the initial appointment

along with trying to interact with ie on the floor and with

different toys, she made her diagnosis.

I had initially taken ie to a speech therapist at Winchester

Hospital (before the neurologist) and after two hours with us and

ie he said she was PDD-NOS, taking that info to my pediatrician

we ended up with Dr. .

Dr. requested all the blood work (to rule out fragile X),

urine analysis to check amino acids, EEG to check brain waves and

than the sedated MRI. After these tests came back Dr. made

her recommendations for school, one-on-one aide at school and on the

school bus, speech therpay and OT.

continue with the task? I sometimes use M & M's to prode her but I

want to eliminate food re-inforcers.

Wow, we had our diagnosis at Kluge too. We used to live in Blacksburg, which

had a amazing school system, full inclusion and very caring (remember Educating

? & recently " Graduating " .) I often wonder where we'd be at if we

were still there.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a great Saturday. I did my

15 minute workout #2 this morning and I feel absolutely great. It is

a beautiful day outside and God is helping me survive so many things

right now. I would be crazy right now if it wasn't for HIM.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share that I am 11 pounds lighter since I

started LifeLift. Can't tell you how many inches because I never

bought a tape measure. I know I would be obsessed with it if I did.

I have been wearing size 14 pants and can now fit 12.

I need to get reflexology. Still haven't tried it.

I had to go see my chiropractor Thursday. As I was laying on her

table she said " Are you losing weight? You look smaller. "

Of course you know I was elated. I was hoping pretty soon someone

would see a difference in me besides myself and hubby (although that's

nice too). It feels great. I actually crave water now too!

I am working out a system for myself with the sprout garden trays and the Easy

Sprouters that I have. While some things are growing in the sprout garden trays,

I am soaking and rinsing in the Easy Sprouters. I generally use the Easy

Sprouters for wheat grass, peas, sunflowers, and occasionally something else,

but I am thinking I am going to eventually need another set of Sprout Garden

Trays.

Lately I have been having a mixed sprouts salad with balsamic vinegar as a late

night snack. I am planning on having one tonight.

Joyce, have you considered a Hemp Sprout Bag for sprouting peas and beans? Might

free up some tray space.

After reading in your post that radish sprouts are so hot, I am dying to get

some to sprout and try.

I put it on my list for my next seed order.

I'm thinking 1 set of Sprout Garden trays may not be enough. I didn't have any

sprouts to eat at all the last 3 days, because I ate them all and didn't have

enough started again. Today I brought 2 out of the 3 batches I made and they're

almost gone already. I had a bean salad mix for lunch and clover sprouts with

my sweet/sour veggies at dinner. I left the radish sprouts at home for hubby.

He liked them in his salad. I thought they were way too hot.

I found the Raw Food Trucker videos on youtube and I'm watching them here and

there. Very inspiring.

Melody, I wanted to cry for you when I saw your sprouts on the floor.

I think I may have to invest in a hemp bag. I wonder if I would have a hard

time getting through security and customs with one full of sprouts.....dying to

try sunflower and pea, and fenugreek. I still have too many seeds to justify

ordering any more for myself. I didn't make it to my local health food store to

see what they have. I go home Monday afternoon and I have 3 days off.

I learned that it's not a good idea to soak the small seeds in the Sprout Garden

trays. I have quite a few alfalfa seeds that are stuck in the little holes

right now. I figure a brush will be needed to get them out after harvesting.

One of my favorite Sproutpeople mixes is Hot Squared. It's got 2 seeds - Daikon

radish and Oriental mustard. It is super spicy and hot. Amazing stuff. It clears

out the sinuses and you almost get a little head buzz off of a good mouthful. I

love hot, spicy stuff and this is great. It is constantly being sprouted in my

auto sprouter. Just today I mixed chive, garlic, and broccoli sprouts w/ the Hot

Squared mix and some balsamic salad dressing mix. Absolutely amazing!....cant

wait till I can add my Sunflower sprouts to the mix!

Hi .

You like hot an spicy. Boy have I got a new item for you. Just got it the other

day. I was in my local store and on the counter there was this item from Boars

Head. It's called Boars Head Cajun Ramoulade Mayonaise. I later found out that

I could have made this myself, all the recipes are up on youtube. But I bought

the jar.

I took it home, made some tuna the same way I always do, added chopped onions,

zuccini, celery, and a small amount of regular mayo (can't stand the diet one).

So I opened the Board Head Cajun Ramoulade and I took just a bit and mixed it in

with the tuna.

Man oh Man. Delicious

But where I really appreciated it was later on that night when I made some

salmon. I just took a bit and smeared it on top of the salmon as I cooked it.

Oh my god.

You have to try this stuff.

Thanks Melody. I'll have to check it out. I do love the Boars Head deli mustard.

For a nice dressing, I'll mix balsamic vinegar, some tahini and a squirt of that

mustard. I'll have to give that hot mayo a look. Especially now that it's

getting cooler out. Helps warm the blood! I've been making some homemade Kim

Chi that will knock your socks off. I really feel the hot chili peppers, fresh

grated ginger, and garlic not only keep spice up the meal, but are fantastic

immune boosters and help ward off colds and flus at this time of year. The fact

that they taste fantastic is a tremendous bonus. Does anyone else do any home

fermenting w/ Kim chi, krauts, pickles etc. I'd be interested in any recipes

anyone might have. I truly feel invigorated when ingesting these foods. Good

night all.

Hi ,

I do! I thoroughly agree that they are a great immunity booster. I

usually have something on the counter getting stinky. : )

I stick to the basics mostly...traditional kim chi being my favorite. I

do like the Korean red pepper powder versus any other type of hot pepper.

I have a plain sauerkraut going now. I experimented with fermenting

different types of vegetable blends throughout the summer as different

vegetables were being harvested.

I have also been experimenting with fermented nut cheeses.

My favorite right now, being a huge cucumber fan, is a cucumber kim chi

found here....

I am also experimenting with fermented nut cheeses and often make nondairy

yogurt in my yogurt maker. I had two batches of kefir (water and milk) going

recently, but am resting them now. I am soaking green olives until Thanksgiving

when I will switch them over to a vinegar/salt soak for another month. I don't

think they are fermented, just cured.

I drink Kombucha whenever I can but don't make it (too scared). Especially in

the cooler weather, we eat a good amount of miso (fermented bean paste).

Natto, which is Japanese fermented soy beans, are awesome on a bagel. I have 3

packs of Natto in the freezer that I plan to top with sprouts. Tempeh

(Indonesian fermented soy cakes) are great too, but I don't make those. Just

eat'em.

I take a vegan probiotic every day--Megaflora Plus. Has a nice wide spectrum of

probiotics.

How could I forget one of my favorite fermented things---Raw Apple Cider

Vinegar! I take shots of it each day--love the stuff. It is great in salads and

probably on sprouts too.

Joyce,

I found that after harvesting, the little seeds and hulls easily come out. I

just use the faucet and run my fingers along the bottom of the holes. I think

only once i had to use something to poke a stubborn seed out of the holes.

trays. I have quite a few alfalfa seeds that are stuck in the little holes

right now. I figure a brush will be needed to get them out after harvesting.

Yep, there's no denying someone's been digging into some Kim Chi. It leaves

behind that Kim Chi funk Lori. But what a treat. I was concerned that I might

have gastro issues w/ the mix, but if anything-it helps digestion. Guess it's

due to the healing ginger, cabbage, and probiotics among other things in the

mix. Thanks for the link. I love cucumbers, so I'll give that recipe a try.

There is also another more traditional Kim Chi recipe where they add apple and

pear to sweeten it a bit. Nice. I've been using your " common " crushed red

peppers in the mix, but am going to grab some Korean pepper powder/ paste when I

I do! I thoroughly agree that they are a great immunity booster. I

usually have something on the counter getting stinky. : )

I stick to the basics mostly...traditional kim chi being my favorite. I

do like the Korean red pepper powder versus any other type of hot pepper.

I have a plain sauerkraut going now. I experimented with fermenting

different types of vegetable blends throughout the summer as different

vegetables were being harvested.

I have also been experimenting with fermented nut cheeses.

My favorite right now, being a huge cucumber fan, is a cucumber kim chi

found here....

Those are some great fermentation projects n. I've dome Kombucha in the

past, as well as homemade yogurt. Both are somewhat unforgiving and potentially

dangerous if not done properly. I do love making water and milk Kefir. I'm

attempting to stay Vegan, so try to stay away from dairy, but I love the milk

Kefir w/ some good organic milk. Even the Wheatgrass Messiah ( don't know his

name-saw some YouTube videos on him- a hardcore veggie) drinks milk Kefir daily,

so I might reintroduce it into my diet from time to time. I also love the Braggs

apple cider vinegar, and often add it to salads, dressings. I buy South River

Miso. Amazing stuff. They have a fantastic dandelion / leek miso, and I also

love their sweet rice white Miso and Red pepper and garlic miso. Give them a try

if you haven't already. Have a great day!

Hi .

You like hot an spicy. Boy have I got a new item for you. Just got it the

other

day. I was in my local store and on the counter there was this item from Boars

Head. It's called Boars Head Cajun Ramoulade Mayonaise. I later found out that

could have made this myself, all the recipes are up on youtube. But I bought

the

jar.

I took it home, made some tuna the same way I always do, added chopped onions,

zuccini, celery, and a small amount of regular mayo (can't stand the diet

one).

So I opened the Board Head Cajun Ramoulade and I took just a bit and mixed it

in

with the tuna.

Man oh Man. Delicious

But where I really appreciated it was later on that night when I made some

salmon. I just took a bit and smeared it on top of the salmon as I cooked it.

Oh my god.

You have to try this stuff.

The traditional Kim Chi recipe on the site is my recipe of choice for

Kim Chi. I like the little bit of sweet. The cucumber Kim Chi I do

change a bit by adding some Ginger as I beleive all things are improved

by the addition of ginger.

The Korean red pepper powder is not as hot as some hot peppers but adds

a great taste.

Thanks for posting the info. I missed the link first time around, so I will

check the archives. I haven't made kim chee in years but love the stuff.

I agree that my favorite chili seasoning is the Korean. They have a fantatastic

cuisine--one just has to avoid all the meat (at least I do). Bean curd works

wonderfully in so many of their recipes.

And their soybean sprout recipes are to die for--simple, but so good. (soy

sprouts parboiled, tossed with sesame oil, fresh garlic, soy sauce, red pepper

threads or flakes, green onions, and crushed sesame seeds).

I have to look into the Wheatgrass Messiah on youtube. The stuff tastes so

ghastly by itself. I drink an ounce a day mixed with a tiny bit of freshly juice

apple. It helps to read and watch other talk about the benefits. The Wheatgrass

Trucker chugged his right after juicing. I can do that, but don't like the after

taste, hence the apple juice.

Wheatgrass is so easy to grow--and given the health benefits, I like to get at

least an ounce in my diet everyday.

The guy on the diccountjuicers videos recommended wrapping the wheatgrass pulp

around your finger if you have a cut, which I recall Ann Wigmore talking about.

It absolutely does heal cuts fast. I was pretty surprised at that.

BTW, I did have a marvelous mixed sprout salad last night after getting home

from my husband's gig at a Mischief Night party--2am-I skipped most of the party

food just so I could have my sprouts and snack when I got home.
