Dianne-

Pickled salmon should be pretty easy, but I'd avoid the grain products and

maybe the dairy products, though you could try incubating yoghurt for 24

hours (at 100-105 degrees) to eliminate virtually all lactose. 24-hour

yoghurt has worked for many, many people with gut problems as a

probiotic. Nuts are probably a no-no too, at least for now.

You might want to try making sauerkraut or kimchi and just drinking the

liquid as a probiotic until you can handle the cabbage itself, and since

you're having gut problems, I highly recommend you get a copy of _Breaking

The Vicious Cycle_, by Elaine Gottschall.

Finally, if you're having trouble digesting fats, fermented foods can help

a lot, and so can pancreatin supplements.

Diane, when you say " sick to your stomach, " what do you mean? You may

want to check out my article on the gallbladder:

One thing for sure: avoid grains. They are hard to

digest and a lot of folks react to them badly. I

made that mistake for a long time: I would eat

soda crackers, thinking they were easy to digest!!!!

Even soaked etc. If you really want some grains,

eat something non-irritating, like quinoa. Boiled

whole grains are far better than flour-like ones too:

that coating they get when they boil protects your gut.

Blood can be very bad (i.e. cancer) and you might

want to get it checked out. I do get that on

occasion, but usually if I eat gluten. Probably

other food intolerances can cause it too. Taking

some Pepto Bismol for a couple of days can

really help: the Pepto cleans out the bad bacteria,

then eating probiotics replenishes with good ones.

There is a supplement called Biogest that really

helps too. It has betaine hydrochoride and enzymes

so you can digest your food better. People who

can't digest foods often have low stomach

acid as the root cause. Eating kimchi with

my meals really helps me too.

>My mother also has lots of trouble with butter and milk fats. (I

have trouble with cow's milk but not the fat). However she doesn't

have any problems digesting small amounts of david Wetzel's butter

oil and will take her dose broken up during the day with small

amounts of cod liver oil. She is also fine with coconut oil. you may

try those.

My mom can get real sick fast if she trys to have some of the fat

laden foods I eat regularly like bacon, fried eggs, etc.

Donna Gates (Body Ecology diet) says when stomach problems are

present to start to heal them use kefired young coconut water . You

may want to check out her site.
