Have it analyzed forwhat though? FOs don't have a specific chemical

constituency as EOs do. Wouldn't every manufacturer have a different

chemicalmakeup?

Alice,

Speaking as a supplier, I think it is important to name the

company so that others aren't duped in the same way. Also,

as you have e-mailed them they do have a chance to respond

and explain (is there one?). Just my opinion!

Also, was your answer about the CoQ10 answered?

for a long time. 5 of the scents were seriously diluted and one

smelled totally like turpentine. I had several other people compare

the old with the new and all agreed that they were VERY weak and the

one was definately something other

person recieved the message because I got a read receipt. I've got

over $150 invested in scents that I cannot use and wouldn't anyhow

because one of them has definately got some kind of cutting chemical

or something so foreign in it that if the smell of it is any

indication, well the safety of my customers would certainly be in

serious jeopardy and that's frightening. Any suggestions as to what

to do if I continue to recieve no reply? I value your thoughts, thanks.

Pam,

Thank you for humbling me... I rarely post and then, as usual,

I didn't think it through because I am tired of things like

this happening. I would want your response if I were to

have this happen with my business and customers!

Again, thank you..

Did you pay for this with a credit card or through PayPal? If so I would file a

complaint

immediately. If you wait too long you could be out your $150.

Even if you've been a customer of this company for two years they could have

changed

suppliers and know exactly what they are selling. I know of at least one

supplier who gets

in a terrific new FO, does a buy and carries it for a year or so and then goes

to a cheaper

immitation. This supplier also will not respond to emails and basically doesn't

care if they

keep you as a customer or not.

If you reveal this supplier there may be folks here who can tell you if they've

had a similar

experience or other info.

give them a chance to explain so go forth and try a phone call or several calls.

I would give it at the very least a couple weeks for them to respond

I understand the frustration of not having emails answered, but I

agree with the message above. My business email has not been coming to

me for the past week due to a problem with my hosts server. At this

point, there is not much I can do but try to be patient (as I imagine

and worry about who may be upset with me because I'm not answering

their email).

You might find that it was cut with something. It would have to be an oil

but since it doesn't seem to me you will get any satisfaction I don't really

see the point. I only buy fo's from a very small group of people and very

big houses for this very reason.

I'm really sorry the outcome wasn't as hoped. It is sad to see suppliers not

stand behind their products. I understand the frustration, believe me, I've

been there too. I will spare the list my troubles...but know you are not

alone. A lot of us have swallowed some of the same medicine.

What I think we sometimes forget...We gamble our dollars every time we place

an order online, to people we don't know, or what they think is " good

business practice " . The most harm we can do is not order from them again.

Eventually they will have big pills to swallow as well when they go out of

business.

Have you tried the oils in soap or just smelling from the bottle? Often

times the fragrances will bloom in soap even though they smell like cleaning

fluid in the bottle. I have a few here like that. Before I toss them, I'd

try a small batch of soap even if it has to be melt and pour to keep from

wasting expensive butters, maybe a pound or so, and see if by chance there

is a blossom hiding in that bottle. Could it be they switched suppliers for

their FO's and this one/s just need soap to bloom?

Again, I'm sorry for your.... loss of battle...in the FO war.

well wishes..

I dunno, nothing we order should smell like cleaning fluid <gasp>. What we

order should give us a heady feeling. We should love it or outright hate it,

but if it smells of solvent, then it's full of solvent.

I have a supplier in Mass, she has the best quality of everything. I can't

afford to use her essential oils in my soaps, but I would use nothing else in

my creams. She has EO's that smell like heaven compared to others, but

still you have to try them. Her pachouli I hate, but I would use it in a blend

for my creams, because I know her quality.

I never thought I would find a Tea Tree Oil I liked, her's is wonderful,

gives me that heady feeling. Her litsea doesn't smell like toilet bowl

cleaner, and neither does her lemongrass, they're the best I've ever sampled.

You

really do have to get samples sizes.

Yes, the best thing you can do is cut your losses and move on to another

supplier. One of the best things about soapmaking and toletries making is the

formulation of it all. It's all about design. You have to pick and choose

from so many sources. It's great to get recommendations, helps things along.

Joyce, why don't you go up to the Soapmakers Guilde Site. They have a long

list of vendors. If someone insults a vendor on a list, it's called spamming

and is definately not netiquitte.

Plus it might get back to the vendor and cause even more problems <ask me

how I know>

There are lists all over the place for reputed vendors. If folks would just

start with those, we'd have less unhappy stories.

Or just get recommendations from some of the older heads on the lists.

Recommdations abound. There are tons of reputed vendors out there for the

asking.

I agree, it takes some time, but eventually you will build 3 to 4 or maybe

more vendors you do business with. Just ask the list, I'm sure folks will

come up with lots of recommendations.

Hi all!

From what I understand, Alice purchased some FO's from a company that she

has done lots of business with in the past.....for like 2 years right?

After all that time, and now she gets some really bad FO's, and the company

doesn't want to make it right.....that's just plain wrong!

I understand you NOT telling the 'list' the name of the supplier.....as it's

just not proper manners on the net.....

However, if you purchase meat from a local butcher, and you get it home, and

it smells like 3 day old road kill in 100 degree weather....you have a

problem! (Nice analogy eh? LOL)

After this, you go back to the butcher, and he says " tough luck " you bought

it, you keep it....you're gonna be a bit ticked!

Not only that, but you will tell EVERYONE that you know, not to purchase

meat from Butcher Joe, as you could very well get sick or die from eating

his 'road kill'...

It could be problem with this companies new supplier.....it could be that

they are financially strapped, and are now cutting their fragrances with

something to make their inventory go further.....very bad business for sure,

either way.

I will say that I have had some troubles purchasing online.....but the

problems have always been corrected, or some kind of agreement was reached

so the supplier was happy, and so was I.

Alice, if someone asks who the supplier is, and you feel comfortable

telling, then please do so.....offlist.....so you can't be accused of

'slamming'....

And if I ever have trouble with anyone, I will be the first to tell anybody

that asks....I will just do it as nicely as possible. ;)

It just makes me really unhappy that if you purchased locally, and got

something bad, and you tell folks by word of mouth that the products you

purchased were of poor quality, this is just considered normal. On the same

token, if you are very HAPPY with someone's products, again, they get more

business by word of mouth. That's how businesses fail or succeed. I think

it's just plain wrong that we can't name them on the net, as it's considered

'slamming'......

I believe you mentioned before that you had recommended this supplier in the

past......so that's 'cool'.

I guess I'm just a bit miffed, as you say, that we can give praise where

praise is due, but you can't complain when you get a terrible product with

no resolution.

Just my humble 2 cents, and I'm getting off my soap box now. ;)

Hope everyone has a great day! Even the supplier in question.....you know

who you are!
