Hi Trish,

Sorry to hear the temp cam closer. I have not heard prednisone would

make the temps come more freuently. This did not happen with our

daughter when we started prednisone. For whatever reason her temps

came in shorter or longer intervals sporadically. Try to relax and

hope that this is just a one time thing. Don't feel guilty about

giving the medication again you may not have to give it again for a

long time (hopefully). We have found Cimetidine (Tagamet) much more

successful for our daughter. Good luck!

I wanted to let you know that we also started Prednisone for our 20

month old in July. We have given 3 doses. Prior to Prednisone her

fevers came every 4 weeks. After the first dose of Prednisone the next

fever came in 11 days. After the second dose the fever came in 8 days.

We gave her third dose of Prednisone on 7/25 and we are still waiting

for her next fever. I was also concerned that we were starting to give

Prednisone weekly and were we better off without it. But with the

amount of time that has passed since her last fever I think it is worth

it. With the Prednisone her fever is gone within 3-4 hours instead of

lasting 4 days. Hang in there. I am learning from this board that each

child responds differently, but we all are hoping for longer and longer

gaps between fevers.
