On the kombucha list, some have said that it curbs the desire to drink alcohol - at least beer - since it is fizzy and can be brewed to have a strong taste. The consensus on that list is that it is OK for alcoholics to consume. - -
Guest guest
I read on an FAQ that it has 0.5% alcohol, i believe, and they said it is the same as fruit juice. So you should be ok? I have a question for the kombucha people though, I read it gets rid of warts... what about those skin tab types that us insulin resistant people get?? I am getting my culture soon and I can't wait to get started! =) Dawn > And speaking of beer, I'm an alcoholic--how worried do I need to be > about possible alcoholic fermentation in these drinks? Warts are viral. Don't know about plantars warts. Have one on my left foot. Reflexologist told me once it was the kidney area. Wanted to try kombucha when had it at Lierre's. Couldn't bring myself to it because of the beer/alcohol smell. Probably psychological aversion. When I was in the third grade I nearly cut my right hand off. Remember the smell on the dr's breath as they were knocking me out. Wasn't till years later when I smelled beer that it clicked. > >! I wonder! I have several skin tags, I'll keep an eye out. Guest guest
Wanita, <<What are skin tags?>> ---cutaneous papillomas, are called skin tags... they're literally little 'tags' of skin growing on various spots on some people's skin [including me] they can be 'burned off', frozen off or snipped off by a dermatologist... no doctor I've asked so far has known the reason for their appearance... in the old days people would tie a very thin string/thread near the 'root' and tie tightly to stop blood supply to the 'tag' and it will eventually 'dry' and fall off... haven't summoned up enough courage to do this to my little 'brood'.... on a positive note... had two little warts for years, knew they're viral... started taking 'Swedish bitters' and the warts were gone in two weeks... coincidence?... don't know.. have been frantically searching google since Dawn posted the question <<what about those skin tab types that us insulin resistant people get??>> still haven't found anything to connect the 2... maybe others will have more luck. My family practitioner told me they were common among people with diabetes (as he was gently lecturing me on my blood pressure and weight). Guest guest
> What are skin tags? Technically I think they are warts, but they look like ones that have been stretched out, are very loose and floppy and they get caught on things (like clothing). I started getting them about the time I started gaining a lot of weight, developed Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (which goes hand in hand with hyperinsulinism). So, perhaps it is a normal virus people carry around (like plantar warts) and when the body becomes diseased or exhausted they manifest. My mother who now has type 2 diabetes even got tiny ones on her neck area. They are gross and can be painful. I am hoping the kombucha takes care of em! =) Dawn

Guest guest
I gargle with h202 (food grade hydrogen peroxide) every so often. I dilute it to 3% with filtered water. It really lightens your hair too.Ann MarieOn Mar 28, 2008, at 7:48 AM, Viadro wrote:kombucha again but don't look forward to the darkened teeth.
