Melinda ) Re: Mineral Essence Makeup Hi everyone! Well I think I am back among the living...yeaaaaaa!!! I have a lot of catching up to do, I see. Thought I'd start here, before I left for the soup kitchen... Yes, it takes VERY LITTE of the foundation powder. And if you do any concealing before, that as well takes very little and you don't buff it in like you do when you're applying the foundation. It kinda works like magic, in that it will just be OK. I doubt the mineral veil is turning you orange, it has NO color to it. I'm not real sure what to say about that, I've never had an orange problem... Could be just the wrong color for you? What did you end up getting? I don't use the BM blush either, so can't comment on that one either... Just a thought here, are you calling the 'warmth', blush? Unless you ordered a blush color separate, it doesn't come in the kit. If that is what you are meaning, my guess is that you are using way to much of it and that's what's giving you the orange coloring. With the warmth, you even use LESS than with the foundation! I wouldn't be surprised if you are using to much color too, just cuz we're all used to having to almost spackle on liquid and it's hard to imagine not having to use much of the BM. I hope this gives you some help. I truly think, once you get it down, you'll love it. Just takes a little time and a light hand... Love ya'll and have missed ya... Guest guest
well, I used lip liner this morning -- and realized that there's a degree of skill necessary before appearing in public.... so this morning I put a dab of the concealer (Cover Girl, neutralizer) that I bought last night -- on the corners of my lips -- seems top be working (and MUCH better than the lip liner! and I thought only very young children needed to learn how to " stay in the lines " !). What is the brand on Big Lips -- would like to try that, I doubt that the concealer is formulated for lips (could be drying????). Re: Mineral Essence Makeup Hi Bonnie, I was going to ask the same thing Connie did, about using lip liner. I also use this stiff, have for years, called Big Lips. It's NOT a lip plumper, it covers your lips pretty much like the foundation. I never used foundationon my lips, cuz it dries them out. I found this at ULTA. They may have it on their online store, I'm not sure... But I LOVE the way it makes my lipstick look... Love ya, Kiki
Guest guest
I did -- went out and bought the Cover Girl concealer -- picked neutralizer -- seems to be okay with my skin tones.... Re: Mineral Essence Makeup Oh my Bonnie. THROW that away NOW! I believe foundation should only be kept about 3 months or so, as it gets contaminated from the use. Mascara is 6 months or less... I'm going out in just a bit and will stop by the store and get the info... I truly love it... And yes, foundation, concealer, all that is very drying, to my lips anyway... I'll let ya know when I get back from the store...

Guest guest
Ummmm Bonnie, I dearly hope while you're trying to tan your face you're using LOTS of sunscreen... There's NOTHING more damaging and aging to the skin as sun... I never go out with it and keep my face out of the sun pretty much at all costs... Just worried about you! Guest guest
Bonnie, I end up using the circular motion but also just back and forth motion to buff on the minerals... All mixed up...LOL , the BM Goddess, uses both motions as well... I think you just need to do what works best for you... Kiki
Guest guest
My ultimate (skin) goal is to not need to wear any foundation. And I am hoping, that once we move to FL, I'll tan to a point that my skin will look better (a lot of my problem is my skin is pale, and so the redness is emphasized). I regularly wear foundation, so the BM is feeling very light to me -- and it even says that you can sleep in it, it's so non-harmful. During pregnancy, your skin goes through a lot of change, so perhaps you ought to carefully monitor when yours is breaking out, etc. It could be pregnancy hormones (happened to me), or something in the BM that you're sensitive to, or something unrelated.... I use coconut oil as my only moisturizer -- you might try this, too -- it's supposed to be very non-harmful. And I stay away from sunscreen lotions -- they really make a mess of my face. And any problem areas/redness, I put on some of the aloe/comfrey gel. Don't know how it would work with acne (there are some benefits to being 60!), but I sure would give it a try... Bonnie Re: Mineral Essence Makeup Thanks Bonnie! I too played with mine over the weekend!! I tried to use very little and it did look much better later in the day. It also didn't feel quite as heavy to me. After 10 years of not wearing make up it felt kind of stifling to me. I still don't use it every day just days that I feel I need. Right now that is more often than not because I am breaking out terribly. I don't know if it is from pregnancy hormones or from BM. I have very sensitive skin and have a hard time finding any products that I can use that don't cause acne flare ups. Generally while I am pregnant my skin NEVER breaks out so I don't know if it is that or not. Love,
Guest guest
I know Kiki it is odd. But it has happened several times. I didn't think about the buffing being the cause. That could be possible, I am not very good at that. But if I go light with it , it does not happen. My face doesn't get red, it just burns. I am just a little bit weird :-) But I love the BM and still will use it. Connie :-) > Odd that you, Connie, have that reaction with the BM. Since it's all > natural. Guest guest
how do you buff? -- I just put a very small amount on my brush, then apply with a circular motion -- since I'm at a distinct visual disadvantage at this point (makeup mirror is lighted and magnified, but no glasses!) -- I don't really know what is happening on my face. Do you rub it in even more? or? thanks....

Guest guest
I don't plan to " tan " but I do expect to develop more skin color (typically I do after a couple weeks in FL) -- I think some of it may simply be that I'm outside in the elements instead of sitting in front of a computer! While I don't believe in tanning per se, I do think some sun is healthy -- lots of recent studies indicate that we used to be in the sun/outdoors far more than we are today, yet the incidence of skin cancer is spiraling up. I imagine that some exposure (no I don't mean getting a deep tan or burn) is good -- and it feels so darn good! Maybe it's tied in with the foods we eat (seldom a really natural diet) and our activity levels (I think our bodies were designed to move, not sit!)... When I move to FL, though, I will use hats and sunscreen and protective barriers -- but I will also see some skin darkening..... Guest guest
Well, I tan at the tanning salon and I love it. I do it once a week. I am horribly ghostly white and do not look healthy. I also use sunscreen though It is normal to get some pigmentation coloring on our skin and not all sun causes cancer. We need the vitamin D from the sun with love, Jenni Proud Air Force Mom! Guest guest
I use the coconut oil for my moisturizer, too now and have had tremendous success using it in the summer at the pool. The books about coconut oil (at the website) talk about how coconut oil has antioxidant properties and it is thought that is why it works well to protect the skin from burning, giving you a nice, beautiful tan. It just has so many benefits - - that's why I was so glad to see Rashelle come out with Beyond Magic with coconut oil. Isn't it the Night Magic with the addition of coconut oil? Guest guest
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm , the above link is a good place to start reading about coconut oil. I think someone on this board markets it???? I use a different site, simply because I prefer the aroma .... It did not help me lose weight -- but we like cooking with it and using it on our skin. Last summer, I tried it on my shoulders/arms/neck (instead of sunscreen) when we were in FL -- and I did not get burned (but my husband, who used his standard heavy-duty sunscreen, did get a bit red) -- however, we were also careful and didn't go to the beach in the afternoon, etc.! The coconut oil that you can (typically) buy locally is processed completely differently, I think you need the cold-pressed virgin stuff for the good effects..... Bonnie .. I think someone on this board markets it Re: Mineral Essence Makeup Thanks Bonnie! Can you use just any coconut oil or is there something special to look for?
