Guest guest
eggs are the item listed here that i eat the most of....some weeks i have eaten eggs 3 or 4 mornings and i usually eat two of them at a time. i don't drink any milk. i eat butter maybe once every few days (probably1-2 tbsp. per week right now). i do not eat cream...i would if i could get anything of any quality whatsoever. dh once made a cream of tomato soup---it was delicious but the cream (from organic valley) was ultrapasteurized so i don't think we'll make a staple out of that! the farm is much too far for me to go since dairy is not a big part of our lives. i do eat yogurt occassionally. and cheese occassionally. heather opalv214 <opalv@...> wrote: Hi All, Was curious how much milk, butter, cream and eggs does everyone consume on a daily basis? -Vee
Guest guest
Vee As a family of 2 adults, 3 children (ages 1 to 6), we would consume each week - 20 litres of raw milk (7 litres as Kefir), 3 dozen eggs, 660ml of raw cream (would eat more if it wasn't so expensive), 2kg of yoghurt/quark, 400g of cheese, 300g butter. So divide all those by 7 for daily consumption. It's much better than the ultra, and is what I used before I found my raw source. From the color in the summer you can at least see they are grass fed. About 3 eggs, 1-2 quarts of kefir which is made from half milk and half cream, which would make for 2 cups to 1 quart of milk and 2 cups to one quart of cream, when I have cheese I sometimes eat a half pound but that generally displaces meat, and meat displaces the cheese on other days, several times a week I have about a cup of whipped cream with berries for dessert, which is about a half cup of unwhipped cream, and butter depends on what I eat-- if I have a piece or two of bread I eat 4-6 tablespoons, if I have mashed potatoes at one meal, I use about 4 tbsp in them, but if I have fried potatoes I use lard, which would displace some of the butter. All in all about 2-8 tbsp a day butter. Chris

Depends on what else I have. If I don't have anything convenient to bring for lunch, I hard boil eggs. I've eaten 9 eggs a day before, and once I think I even ate 11. I would expect a woman to average less. I suggest eating at least a couple a day. I think they're good for mental health. Chris

Well I bet I eat a lot more in general than you do, since I eat more than most people especially women. So I certainly wouldn't expect everyone else to eat that much. Also, everyone needs to find their own balance of fat/protein/carbs. I haven't had much for plant products today, mostly because I'm out of plants right now. I had some steamed sprouts and carrots for breakfast with butter. I brought some raw carrots to work for lunch, but I got an allergic reaction after a few bites, so I didn't eat them, and just had cheese, half cream half milk kefir, and ate some butter that I'd brought to spread on the carrots. I was going to have meat for dinner but it wasn't done thawing so I more or less skipped dinner. My diet's been probably 95% dairy today. But on a typical day I'll eat a good amount of salad, and often kale. Sometimes I eat a quart of salad with a meal, with 4-6 tbsp olive oil and some raw ACV. I also try to eat some lacto-fermented veggies, mostly sauerkraut or kimchi, with every meal, but I often run out and don't get around to making more right away. But fat is the foundation of every meal for me. My philosophy is to only eat one plate full of food at a time (you can violate this with salad, since it takes up so much room ;-) ), and top the rest off with fat, so that you get full for a minimum of 4 hours. I think how much you need REALLY varies from person to person, and maybe daily for the same person. I tend to gain weight, and I tend to " overindulge " and regret it later, so I use the Cliff Sheats/Body for Life kind of portion control: 4 oz meat, x amount starch, and a mess of vegies (all I want). I eat most of my starch in the morning, for breakfast, and eat less for lunch and generally none for dinner, then a few crackers before I go to bed with some lox or whatever to help me sleep. Between meals I've been snacking on fruit -- right now, tons of blueberries (I just love fresh blueberries!). Like I have some probiotics with every meal, kimchi in my case. As an experiment I've been avoiding dairy except kefir and butter. I have good eggs and I use them a lot in the summer in big huge salads (with oil and lots of garlic). -- Heidi

Guest guest
Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Hard to keep up with emails with 3 kids in tow. We are in Australia and don't use your measurments but will give it a try to convert. 2 to 3 quarts daily milk half of which is kefir smoothies with 1/4 cup cream and 1/4 cup coconut cream and sometimes tblspn butter added. 1 to 2 cups of yoghurt between us (usually the kids eat all the yoghurt) 1/2 cups of cheese (best conversion I could find) couple of tablespoons of butter if we can each daily cook with ghee and save chicken fat and tallow from stocks to use approx 1 egg each daily All dairy is raw We also eat loads of meat with loads of fat We still feel we don't eat enough fat and are having trouble converting to red meat - although we love it, it is causing heat problems (urinary and genital heat) probably need to eat more raw. hope this helps Wes Re: Weight gain- Milk, butter, cream and eggs > Litres?
