Guest guest
I would recommend either a monopole rig or an A-frame. They can be back tensioned and leaned / tied like a derrick. The SMC Terradaptor has a monopole version (http://rocknrescue.com/acatalog/SMC-TerrAdaptor-and-TerrAdaptor-Accessories.htm\ l) that can be easily rigged over any vertical ladder. Combined with the articulating foot assembly, it is very easy to set up and position. Like any monopod, you need to be able to securely lash the head and feet to keep it from shifting. I like to use two fully adjustable positioning rigs, each of which is made up of two sets of the following (so four sets total needed, on set for the head and one for the foot): a length (whatever is most appropriate for rigging to your nearest anchors) of 11 mm rope with two triple wrap prussics in the middle (each attached on opposite sides of the head to provide counter tension against each other with a slight rope sag to provide shock absorption for a shock load) and a butterfly knot in the middle clipped to the monopole head and a set of triple wrapped tandem prussics on either end with the ends of the 11 mm rope terminated in figure 8's on a bight; both the 8 and triple wrapped tandem prussics are attached to the anchors and the prussics tensioned to position the head of the monopole exactly where you want it. You then set up the second one so you've provided anterior/posterior and lateral stability. You'll need a similar system to secure the foot as well unless you can directly attach the foot to the deck.. Date: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 10:48 AM  Hi all, im trying to find a device that will allow stretcher retrieval up a vertical ladder system, head up, feet down scenario (ie the patient is being lifted in the vertical, not horizontal position). Whilst we have a rescue tripod for tank retrieval, on our Semisub the pontoons have vertical access ladders, and the entrance to them is such that a tripod cannot be sited. Therefore i need an overhanging, almost crane like system which hang over the access shaft whilst standing securely on the deck. Hope that makes sense. Does anyone have a solution that they use or know of one?
