Guest guest
, I actually thought about setting up a regualar web forum and paying people to moderate it, but the danger there is that I would wind up with robots who would do what I paid them to do instead of free thinking individuals who are here because they wanted to be here and who would serve however they wish to serve. More genuine forums all around to my way of thinking. had once sent me a survey asking if I would be receptive toward more forum options if I had to pay for it. In that survey it was suggested that forum members could pay dues for admittance to the forums to defray my costs. I sent back a letter saying that the people who use these forums are using them for health-related purposes and many cannot afford the expendature, no matter how slight. I also mentioned that when people have to pay to get in, only the ones who WANT to get in and can afford will do so. The rest are excluded from joining, and this would be unfair since the forums might be of some benefit to them if they were actually able to join. Tom She even wanted to know how much I was getting paid to moderate here. When I told her nothing, she thought I was crazy for doing it. Guest guest
Hi all, PHTLS - ITLS courses... I have to do one of these and would like to ask which one is considered better and which places do folk suggest they be done for quality, cost and accommodation ease. How long are they valid for ? Cheers P.
Guest guest
PHTLS is a US-based course, put out by the national association of EMTs. ITLS, as I understand it, isn't running anymore per se - Now its ATLS and BTLS: advanced trauma life support and basic trauma life support. It's an international class, and as such, it's definition of advanced may include a little more than the IV/IO/Dart that PHTLS teaches. But that's just going off of things I've heard; I don't know firsthand. So, if you're planning on staying US-oriented, go for PHTLS; it's pretty well accepted here. If you're looking more at international opportunities, I might look more at ATLS or BTLS. You can check the NAEMT website for sites, fees, and dates associated with any PHTLS class. I believe the website for ATLS and BTLS is the ITLS website (sorry to be confusing), which also has a course listing.
