Guest guest
Hi , Janene had one Bowen session. I can only say that she said she " didn't feel anything " . Doesn't mean that it might not help someone else though. Yes, it is essentially the same thing. Different groups use different terminology for the same general practice. I have tried NST with a local therapist, it was interesting, but no panacea. I actually found it fairly similar to trigger point massage therapy, but I'm sure both types of therapists would disagree. <http://www.usbowen.com/> Like all therapies, some folks will respond more to one type, others to another. -- Jean jpro2@... Guest guest
RE: < > bowen therapy -----> a local naturopathic doctor who uses WAP principals specializes in it. i'm going to see him this year for a health checkup. i'm glad to hear it's helped you because i'd never heard about it until i read this ND's brochure. Suze---i'll tell you about my experience with it. when i first saw my new dr. she said she thought i would benefit by this therapy, i didn't even ask her in what way. i had it done and a few days later was quite achy, especially in my back. (this continues to happen every time i have it done, a sign perhaps that i need it?) anyway, later that evening my feet sort of arched and cramped on me, rather uncomfortable/painful (but didn't last long at all) and i decided i wasn't going to have one of those therapies again! i was sitting down at the time and awhile later when i got up i noticed my feet felt really good. that night lying in bed my feet felt great! and here's the reason--i had had plantar fasciitis in both feet for a about a year and it was gone!--and has been gone since. plantar fasciitis is extremely painful, i thought i was going to have to quit working because of it (job i have requires standing all day). the conventional doctor i had been to previously gave me some foot exercies and said cortisone could help. i did the exercises but that didn't help much. i couldn't believe there was something like this therapy that could help so much and wasn't being used or even heard of. even in some alternative circles it seems unknown. i could give more examples of what it does, but i think the website lists them. sonya
Guest guest
Gave NST/bowen therapy to dh few years back for a birthday present. He was hit on his motorcycle in '85 and has leg length inequality and triple scoliosis in his back. He could not not work at the time as suggested for best effect. He does chimney cleaning and repair, was busy season, yet physically it was either do something or not be able to work at all. What hangs over everyone's head whenever there's permanent injuries. He had 3 appointments, decided to not work his work around more appointments and made it through rest of year till too much snow and work stoppage. He'd have a bad day with his body releasing day or so after each appointment. Didn't like sciatica for a few days after second appointment but admitted it did him good. What I noticed was his hips looked more even than I could remember, rather than the more difference than usual which is always a sign to me he's overdone it. One spot in his spine with the most noticeable backbone misalignment was much straighter. Someone mentioned using this for scoliosis. Am sure there's wondering about chimney cleaning and the spine. After he started doing that read that Edgar Cayce suggested keeping muscles supporting spine built up. Bowen therapy should take care of this without the extremes dh goes to. Has decided he's had enough of that stress finally, with my prompting and is passing that part on.
