Guest guest
I chipped my front tooth right near the middle slit in between the two teeth. It is pretty small but very noticeable. Is it possible that it will regrow? How long does it take, and more importantly, what do I do? I'm thinking that cosmetic dentistry, i.e. refilling the gap will require the use of a toxic filler, which of course, leeches into the system. Anything used to fill will leech into the system. This is a serious problem for me. Please help.

Guest guest
Sorry but you're tooth isn't going to regrow. I wish I could say it would! When Price found tooth remineralization, he found regrowth of the dentin to protect the pulp, which is the bony stuff underneath the enamel. If on a sufficient diet you might get some regrowth if the pulp is exposed for the sake of protection, but the enamel will not be recoverred and I very much doubt your tooth would fit into shape. Not all filling materials are toxic. Some people are allergic or have reactions to certain non-mercury ones that others don't, and same is true for some metals. I'd instinctively opt for ones that do not have metal, and I'd make sure that any non-metal ones aren't metal-filled or metal-lined. If you know a holistic dentist you might be able to get biocompatibility testing to make sure you don't react to any specific material. If the tooth has to be removed before a new one can be put in or it or a bridge is put in, etc, I highly recommend you find a dentist who is familiar with the process of removing teeth by getting rid of the periodontal ligament and some of the bone underneath to promote bone regrowth, which I think was developed or in any case used by Price, which Meinig describes in Root Canal Cover-up, and which Hal Huggins uses. I'm not sure if bone needs to be removed unless there is unhealthy bone. In any case, this protocol will prevent your tooth-removal site from becomeing a breeding ground for infection.
