Guest guest
Yes, I believe I have read every diet book ever published. I was not heavy as a child or young adult -- we ate well, veggies out of the garden, wild meat, fish and clams my father hunted (well, we all fished and clammed!), although we did also eat supermarket meat and white bread and sugar. None of us had any health or weight problems. When I went through divorce at 30, I binged on sugar due to depression. To try to lose the weight I gained, I bought into the whole low fat/high carb/vegetable oil thing. The result? 60 extra pounds and insulin dependent diabetes. So I think I may need to restrict carbs or at least grains and sweets until my health is better. I'll see how it goes. I tried low carb in the past but felt rotten, but I think it may have been the poor quality of the meat and fats I was eating. Guest guest
Ann- Well, everyone has a different threshold, so you just have to work to find yours. But calorie restriction is just about never needed provided adequate fat is consumed and adequate carbs cut. >I don't plan to cut out all carbs, mostly grains and sugars. -

If they are in fact worse off the meds, then fine, I will work on finding a med that will control them, but if she is better off without the meds, then I'm really considering just trying to heal her naturally. So, she told me that I should talk to the neuro at my next visit which will be next Wed. and explain how I feel and that if I don't feel comfortable with his attitude about if I feel that he is not listening to me, that I should call her and she will refer me to another pediatric neuro. Anyone know of a good one in the Tampa area??? >>>> Good for you Grace. Stick to your guns. It may well be the the overall quality of life may improve with having four seizures a year and other support. Have you emailed Dr. s? Also, she gave me prescription for a glucose machine to check her glucose throughout the day and I will begin using it tomorrow. Does anyone know what the normal glucose level is??? >>>> Why don't you phone the doc's office and ask that question? The ped is also checking her hormone levels and she also wants me to ask the neuro to have a metabolic test done to check her amino acids, etc. so I will be asking him to do that also when I see him. She also told me that 's scoleosis doesn't seem bad, but we will be seeing a orthopeadic surgeon on Thursday and I'll know for sure. >>>> Please try to find non surgical ways to deal with mild scoliosis. Take information with you. Just ask our friend from carbonbased.com So, that's where we're at. MJH, when and I take that Taurine, she looks so tired and so do I and I also sometimes get dizzy, is that normal??? >>> We do not experience that. Are you also taking the necessary cofactor of vitamin B6? If you are uncomfortable with it, just discontinue it. We find it beneficial. Good luck to you. Thanks for all the help! Should I give her another 50mg of B6 in the evening as well or is once a day ok. I'm going to leave her on it. Is there anything about taurine that I should worry about that you know of. From what I've read, it seems to be pretty safe. > Thanks for all the help! Guest guest
That's soap, like the cold process soap I make. Sodium hydroxide is lye, it's used to break down the fatty acid chains in oils and turns them into soap. You could make something very similar with the super-cheap shortening (the one with animal fats, not the all vegetable kind), and coconut oil. Search the internet for instructions on how to make cold process soap. It contains: tallow, olive, coconut, and soybean oils, water, sodium hydroxide and fragrance oil. What is sodium hydroxide? Has anybody heard of a recipe like this, and if you have could you help me figure out how to replicate it. I have tried to talk to this person before and ask for help but she will not give me one peice of info at all. I have asked here what she had to do to start her business/who she talked in a email and have had no response. I tried by phone one time to ask her how she made her body butter and she would not give any info on that either. So I have decided to ask the group of people who usually always have the answers. Thanks in advacne for any and all info Charise
