Guest guest
Rod; Ahem .... < clears throat> who mentioned the SKED ? OSS is very complimentary and personally would not go one without the other. cheers Ol'e Moose Breath. ps I did a bit of a presentation comparing the ease of use and manpower moving through rough terrain required between the SKED and old Stokes litter (quite brief) to the woodland fire fighter operations here, therefore if one is using anything less than an intermediate lift bird .. the Stokes WILL NOT FIT ... sorry bit of a touchy spot, I had to present under a training guise of " downed aircraft assist " to HAC and RAP (rappel and helo attack crews) but it finally it opened some eyes to NOT take a medium out of service when bucketing, anyone wish brief write up and a couple of photos contact off line. Dear S: " I have used a home study refresher for 2 recert periods now " Well first post here ? please excuse the laughter you may be hearing in the background... that said. I certainly hope that the refresher on-line course is a good one and with your endorsement I believe it would be, what's the cost of said animal ? And can one from another country challenge said refresher and gain an US REMT-P badge as one never knows when one may need one to jump in somewhere warm. Similar topic, I recently completed an on-line ACLS course, associated with a educational institute US/Canadian cooperation agreement (name removed to protect from liability) and then a very brief " exam " by a qualified Instructor/ Examiner, honestly it was a freaking joke, not only was very disappointed not only in the course but how the standards have dropped SOOO much. cheers Wilf Re: remote platform casualty retrieval? Nigel, hope you are well! We stopped using 'Rollgliss' a long time ago mainly due to the cost of the thing. Way back then it was very expensive kit to buy. Great kit but..... That's why we went down the route of using what we call a 1st response pack that consists of lines harness pulley's etc. The set up is designed to be very easy to use by minimally trained crews so that they can assist the rope tech to set it all up. It works really well for us. We use either a FERNO rescue stretcher (I don't like that one) or the stretcher that NARC supply. The new SKED that was mentioned earlier by someone is a very good piece of kit. Around £400. I like that as it can be used with a trauma board, it has a hard plastic bottom so can be used as a confined space stretcher or a Urban search & rescue stretcher.vertical or horizontal lift. The harness that we use is designed to be use when wearing breathing apparatus, a definite advantage. Rod
