Guest guest
,  This sounds a bit dodgy to me as if this is a legit outfit then they should know what they already pay medics and offer the same which your friend can accept or reject...  .....at that point negotiations start, if they really want him...this is a con used by dubious sales people asking you to make the first bid on which they can then play...who is the employer..  If he has been on a day rate before then he can ask for the same...is it tax free...what curency is it in...does he get per diem when travelling...does he need a bodyguard...  yes that is needed in some places, when I worked for Yemen Hunt at Hodaeidah I had an armed bodyguard whenever I visited outlying clinics..not that he would have been any use but it the thought that counts..  Most of us know that everything we need should be offerred by the employing company and for an outfit to ask what day rate is expected means a second thought would be wise..  Just an opinion....  P From: Brown <tonybrown24@...> Subject: Day rate for African clinic Date: Thursday, 6 August, 2009, 11:25 PM Hi, a friend of mine is applying for a job in an African country, and has been asked what he expects as a day rate. it will involve travelling between two clinics providing primary care and some logistic work. I have no other details unfortunatly. Can anyone give a rough indication if possible on this scant info? Many thanks Tony _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live Messenger: Thanks for 10 great years容njoy free winks and emoticons. http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/157562755/direct/01/
Guest guest
Tony: Quoting : " this is a con used by dubious sales people asking you to make the first bid on which they can then play " . Agreed, I call it phishing when I get asked that very question so does the company bidding actually have experience in this area in the first place ? Lots of first bidders out there in present economy attempting to under cut the bigger shows, but nothing like landing in country to find out way too late that the " sales people " have no flipping idea where they are dumping you, the " do some logistics " another key phrase. Knowing the " name " of the country would help as like , many have on this listserver have visited the deep dark continent, I suspect more advice in coming. Quote Tony: " Its his first job away from his normal type of work " Query what is normal remote work anyway ? Cheers and good luck with that .... I expect a good " Resume Builder " .... :>) Wilf Day rate for African clinic...!!!!!!! .
