Guest guest
Our full grown hens, all two of them : ) went broody at the same time. When they started laying again, I saved up there eggs as usual - we wait until we have enough for all of us to eat them for breakfast. Well we had them this morning, or tried to, but they have a metallic taste. It's really gross, not subtle. They are free range. Does anyone have experience with this? Could it be something they ate? Could it have something to do with them having stopped laying and then started up again? Will any harm come from eating the eggs? (Both my husband and daughter ate theirs before I had any and noticed the taste, at which time they both said, " yeah, there's this bad after taste in my mouth... " ) We won't be eating any more of them until this is solved - heck, I couldn't eat them anyhow the taste is that appaling. We thought it might be the pan as they were cooked in non-stick pans (two, one for those who want them poached, one for those who want them scrambled) but we tested that theory by cooking them in an iron pan and the taste was still there. I so hope someone here knows something. I didn't find anything on the web. Rhea
