Helen,

I believe you're thinking of glutamate. Glutamine is a very important amino

acid for immune function, ammonia detoxification, brain energy. There is

some debate as to whether or not massive doses of glutamine can convert into

glutamate and thus cause neurotoxicity.

However, in hospitals, glutamine is often given in huge doses (40+

grams/day) to people who have suffered severe burns. It apparently helps

them to build new tissue and speeds up recovery.

In fifth grade your idea of a friend was the person who saved a seat on

In sixth grade your idea of a friend was the person who went up to Nick

In seventh grade your idea of a friend was the person who let you copy

In eighth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you

Now, your idea of a good friend is still the person who gives you the

Hello all,

My goodness, as I read through the digest tonite I feel I am reading my diary!

I am 54 years old, was diagnosed with arthritis when I was 17 years of age.

I've learned that I have 3 different types of arthritis but the psoriatic is

definitely the worst. As with many of you, I learned I had this disease when I

was in my 30's. I have been taking mtx for about 20 years. I remember when I

started this drug they only thought I could take it for a short time but they've

learned much about the drug over the years.

I tried all the non-sterioidal drugs, took gold (which didn't work at all) lots

and lots of aspirin. For someone waiting for an appt for a rheumy I'd recommend

a coated aspirin like ascriptin. Personally, tylenol and the others have done

nothing for me. I took a drug named ZORPRIN, 800 mg and I took four of them a

day, two in am and two in evening. It is an aspirin based drug but is time

released and therefore didn't have so much down time as I was taking regular

aspirin every 3 hours, sometimes closer.

I started remicade infusions a year ago. The BC/BS (this is not a bill)

statement comes and it lists the drug as costing $6, 818.00 and of course some

for the clinic where I receive it and comes to over $7,000. - it has been

covered fully by my insurance. BUT, I had to resign from my job last fall after

21 years and have just started a new job and had the letters sent by my doctors

to get pre-approval for my next infusion which is scheduled for next week. I

get them every 8 weeks and go to the outpatient clinic for cancer and arthritis

folks at the hospital. I have my appt at 1 pm and am

usually done by 4 sometimes a little later. If I call in the am they will order

my drug ahead of time from the pharmacy - they can't order it too far ahead due

to the cost incase I would not get there for some reason. I know by my body two

weeks before infusion time...........I hurt.........I know it is wearing off. I

always hurt but the pain is worse.

I just came back from a 5 day trip to Louisianna for my step daughters

graduation - we live in Penna. The trip has really taken it's toll on me. The

flight and not being able to move my legs was the most difficult thing for me.

If anyone has questions about the remicade, feel free to write to me personally.

There are people on this list that accomplished this goal as well as Dr Donna

s and a couple of others who have written books on the subject. See

also A Symphony in the Brain.

The amount of alcohol in tinctures is negligible and when you put the drops

into very hot water, the alcohol evaporates.

That said, I think that the typical black walnut/wormwood is harsh.

DO YOU HAVE A DIAGNOSIS that verifies the existence of parasites? If not,

get one first. Other cultures control intestinal parasites by eating specific

herbs daily -- in the Middle East it's za'tar (a mix of thymbra spicata and

sesame) in Mexico it's epasote (also known as American wormseed).

It is good to know you are giving your child such a nutritious and healing

treat as yoghurt with flaxseed oil, ground flaxseed and virgin coconut oil. My

son's been doing this for over a year and loves the stuff. We, too, make our

own yoghurt. Adequate incubation time means complete conversion of the milk

sugars.

mjh,

Thank you. I have had her on Mg Glycinate (300-400/day, she is 35lbs).

Does that seem adequate to you? But recently I have had Ascorbate and

Gluconate recommended to me. The latter two seem to give her diarrhea

easily. Which do you recommend and why? They all have come in capsules or

powders so I put them on a spoon and add water. Do you think that is

sufficient? Or should I do the boiling step you mentioned? When she's been

stomachachy like she is right now I usually back off the Mg, because it does

seem hard on her system, but maybe that's a mistake. I'll put it back in

tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks,

Barb

>>>> Barb

We have used MANY types of magnesium and found, in the final analysis, that

the cheapest did the job as well as the most expensive.

The trick is to get it into biovailable form... dissolving ANY in boiling

water and adding some cold water does that trick.

If she is experiencing loose stools, give smaller doses for a while, a couple

three or even four times a day. Maybe back down on total elemental quantity.

It needs to be balanced with calcium. from 50 to 100% as much Mg as calcium

from all sources.

I do not recall the issues with your child.... and what other stuff she's

getting.

Another route is Epsom salts baths.... MgSO4.... Magnesium sulfate. Some

will absorb through the skin.

I am aware that Depakote is metabolized by the liver and therefore can damage

it but it is not like we go into a drug store and say give me the drug that

Long story, however, we are scheduled for an EEG overnight monitoring next

I give my kid milkthistle, add dandelion and grated beets to salads to

What kind of diagnosis besides a syncrometer can detect ascaris in the brain?

Does a blood test or a stool and urine test always detect parasites or can they

go

undetected lodged somewhere in the body?

You know I do have to get that book A Symphony in the Brain, it is the 3rd time

it has

been suggested I read it. (it is currently checked out of our library) I am

looking forward to

it. Do you know the names of the books you mentioned that were written above?

Are they

encouraging to read?

Hi Sherry,

I don't know if you've already unsubscribed from the list, but I'm sorry to

hear about the news you received today. Have you thought about being

evaluated at another CI center? Perhaps they will consider implanting your

deaf ear -- especially since you have severe-profound loss in the other ear.

If you want to look into hearing aids and an FM system, you may want to

contact the Lion's Club, vocational rehabilitation (VR) or similar

organization in your area for funding.

Good luck!

Thank you for you kind words of encouragement. I will see about the VR

in Oklahoma and see if they can help me. I am going to wait a few days before

I unsubscribe for now right now I am depressed as I hoped one would work for

Hi, Carol,

Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. I understand the above

is as long as I am getting that bit of discrimination with the HA - to

I have had A/V therapy weekly for over a year, and sporatically in the

that the electrodes are not placed well. After surgery the Dr told us that it

was a " textbook case " meaning full insertion and all electodes in proper

I'm so happy to know that you are enjoying improved hearing with the 2

thrilled when others do! I'm a huge fan of the implant and encourage those who

have tested and got a positive prognosis from their CI team.

Again, thanks so much for your reply, and continued happy hearing!!
