Hi ,

If it will help me get a job offshore I'll supply a photo-album!! I phoned

Oilfieldmedics on Friday, that's why I asked about where I can get an Offshore

Medic cert. in South Africa, as that is one of their requirements, and he

couldn't point me in the right direction locally.

Dear B. Amor,

Try 'Oilfieldmedics' in Uk and without being rude, just for a bit of fun with

a name like yours posting a photo may help as well...!

Hi Barbara

Sending your photo?????? Why do woman have to display themselves to be

employable???

Very cheap, very cheap..............have some self respect, don't listen to

every person who sends you information.

I have been offshore and have never had to display myself via a photo to attract

the male eye for a damn job!!!!!

Woman need to stop putting themselves out cheaply to get a job, you have all the

papers to get a job, USE IT!!! No where

look like got to do with the JOB???

I'm glad a sense of humour is a pre-requisite for this kind of work!

Anybody wants to offer me a job at 5 grand more than I'm getting I'll

send a photograph of me with the goat!

Barbara,

Just keep doing what your doing. Once you get your first break or

two, and establish a reputation you will discover the jobs chase you.

A big factor is being easy going, and not getting hyped up when

someones sense of humor doesn't exactly align with yours.

Laetitia,

He was just joking around.

Women don't need to rely on their sexuality to get jobs

anymore...Promotions maybe...but not jobs.

That was also what is referred to as a joke. There are numerous

instructional books, movies, and television shows on the subject. If

you need help let me know. (attach a picture of yourself in a bikini to

the email please)

The South Africans all seem agitated lately.

a photo on a CV is normal proceedure in a lot of Asia.

Not oil and gas per say,but in NORMAL jobs-its a must

in Singapore,ines etc.

No idea why,but as a lot of jobs are in

tourism,customer relations,hospitality etc-I guess

they would say good grooming is essential, but of

course it can be used to weed out the non pretty

folk.

I check the CVs of our staff before hiring, but get the

photo removed first.

Not just to ensure I dont get accused of only hiring

pretty girls(or boys),but to avoid any other claims of

anti any thing based on photo.

The last time I saw one it was a driver-good guy,but

his photo was about 20 years old and like a good

greyhound race-the hair had long gone.

Hi Letitia

It was a joke!! Before I sold my pub (so couldn't go) I got a

joboffer on a drilling ship departing from Singapore, and they wanted

a photo, amongst other things before they offered me the job...

Will do... " Keep the faith " as that great band Bon Jovi sings.

As to humour...you win some, loose some hey?

Actually quite a few companies ask for pictures as part of the employment

process. Frontier asks for it to be attached to their application. The rest of

them try to be a little more “PC” and just ask for a copy of your passport. Oh

and that is for men and woman. Wow things get crazy around here.
