Questions about frontier medical

I noticed that Frontier Medical has openings for both paramedics and

flight paramedics. Anyone have any insight on the company? Are they a

good company to work for? Do they take care of their employees?

Training? What doe they pay for paramedics and for flight paramedics?

I went for a job with them but wasnt very impressed with what they had to offer

as therepay was right at the bottom of the pay scale. Also i didnt get a good

vibe from the company and found there HR staff rather abrupt, ( not mentioning

any names! ) also the people i have spoke to have not gave me a very good

feedback. To be honest I would never work for them.

The HR manager i spoke to was abrupt and rude, as far as jobs goes with them

no idea how much the pay is, and no idea what sort of work they have on

offer.

applied a couple of years ago reference job in Iraq was told I was too

pricey and they were only interested in a sesmic boat gig they needed to

cover which certianly did not interest me. Also found HR short. also

several people have made the same comments pay offered low end of scale

I applied, and interviewed with them in UK, after some Frontier medics gave a

strong recommendation of me to the HR manager.

Everything was great- test scores, recommendations, etc, then they advised that

I was too overweight to work for them. After I had spent a fair sum of money

travelling to their office for the interview. It was not a health issue, (I had

a UKOOA medical, and no health problems) but rather an image issue. They don't,

apparently want big, fat, ugly medics working for them, regardless of competence

or experience.

They 'kindly' pointed out that they would be happy to consider me once I had

lost weight.

Jim,

Most companies will assess you on your BMI.

Having the UKOOA medical does not actually stand for anything given the

examinations some doctors do or don't carry out before they issue a

certificate.

Having recently read some of the negative comments towards Frontier Medical I

felt compelled to provide some balance to this subject, as I currently work for

this company and therefore have first hand experience of them.

I would recommend them to anybody just starting out in the business who is

finding the old " experience required " answer to their cv difficult to deal with.

I left the forces last year and contacted Frontier on a friends

recommendation. I was interviewed within a week of filling the application forms

and I was offered a position there and then. I was impressed by the courteous,

professionalism of all the staff I encountered and the fact that I had to sit a

medical skills paper, something most agencies don't seem to bother with.

Its true that the initial pay is at the lower end of the scale, but they have

in place an impressive support and investment in people program. I was sent on a

couple of courses for which I was paid a daily rate plus expenses and I received

a substantial pay increase after I had completed my first trip.

The medics that work for Frontier seem to stay with the company for a long

duration which I think reflects the standard of the company.
