Afternoon,

Granted it is very early to start thinking about this but I was wondering if

anyone had any plans to carry this medication?

FDA OKs Kit to Treat Cyanide Poisoning

WASHINGTON, Dec. 16, 2006

(AP) A drug kit to treat cyanide poisoning won federal approval late Friday.

The Cyanokit includes the drug hydroxocobalamin, intravenous tubing and a

sterile spike for reconstituting the drug product with salt water. The kit

is made for EMD Pharmaceuticals Inc. by Merck Sante s.a.s. in Semoy, France,

and packaged by Dey Laboratories of Napa, Calif.

The Food and Drug Administration said its approval of the drug kit improves

the nation's ability to respond to emergencies, including a potential attack

by terrorists. In France, the kit has been used for more than a decade, more

typically to treat cyanide poisoning resulting from smoke inhalation.

In the presence of cyanide, Cyanokit's active drug takes up the cyanide and

becomes a form of vitamin B12, the FDA said.
