Guest guest
Those are pretty neat...I just searched them on Google. I wanted to share my method as well. I started out dating bottles with a brother labeler, but soon found that it was too much work and too expensive--plain overkill. So, I've been using a Sharpie directly on the glass. It's a permanent marker, so it stays on very well during storage and handling. When I get ready to wash the bottles for re-use, I simply take out a Magic Eraser (I use the Target brand...they are dirt cheap) and give it a quick rub and the Sharpie disappears. I do have a few people locally that have tasted and/or found I that I am brewing and want to start buying my brew. I may have to come up with a slightly better solution soon. Guest guest
I'm on the " budget labeling " system, since I'm pretty poor but want to know what flavor is in each bottle. So I just put a piece of scotch tape (the clear but not super glossy kind) on the bottle and write on it with pencil. It is subtle, gives me the info, can be erased and stays on ... and if it comes off, is super easy to replace Although I, too, have people now starting to ask for my KT, so I may have to design a " real " label for them ... Guest guest
I just removed a bunch of labels today using the hot water method, but I heated the water in my tea kettle til it whistled. Works great. It has to be HOT. After I did a few, then I transfered the water to other bottles. Was able to do this a few times until the water was not hot enough anymore. I think I did 12 bottle altogether this morning. ________________________________ From: <blacksands@...> kombucha tea Sent: Tuesday, January 27, 2009 9:55:05 AM Subject: Labels Hi Everybody, I read the email trail regarding removing labels and am wondering whether or not they were for the type of labels that don't appear to come off in a " sheet " (for the lack of a better word). You know the type I'm talking about.the ones that can't peel but look like they are almost individually melted letters/logos. I tried the hot water trick inside the bottle and they didn't budge - I can't even seem to scratch them off (they aren't etched into the glass - but definitely on top somehow). My water heater is directly attached to the boiler too and it gets HOT so the temp more than likely is a non-issue. I would LOVE to learn how to get these types of labels removed if anybody has any ideas! Thank you.
Guest guest
Thank you I'll give this a go after boiling the water first..warming the bottle from the hot water tap before filling it. Guest guest
Ok, I hate to whine here.but I've tried just about everything and I still can't seem to get these darn labels off. I've tried a razor, dull knife, boiling water inside the bottle (and let it sit), boiling water on the outside of the bottle - soaking, goo gone, nail polish, rubbing alcohol etc. Again, these are the labels that don't peel off in one sheet but rather each letter appears to be its own entity. I wish I knew what type/kind of labeling this is so I could search for removal. In the meantime, anybody else have any ideas?????? _____ From: kombucha tea [mailto:kombucha tea ] On Behalf Of Sent: Tuesday, January 27, 2009 6:53 PM kombucha tea Subject: RE: Labels Thank you I'll give this a go after boiling the water first..warming the bottle from the hot water tap before filling it. Guest guest
I am wondering if these labels are printed right on to the glass? Maybe an ink remover? Do a search on how to remove ink from glass.... I know straight Dawn dish soap (original) will remove ink from clothes. Hopefully there is something to remove this from glass. I have glassware that has screen printed pictures on them.I guess I would try finding another bottle with the paper labels. The ones I use are saved for me by a friend, they are iced tea bottles 16oz. They are perfect to bottle my finished KT. also nice to give to another as a try out. Hope this helps,,,/OH
Guest guest
I always forget the name, but google Freis Cavell. She makes label templates. If you want some made for you, try Lightning Labels. I saw samples of theirs from the HSMG Conference last year, and they are amazing. Expensive, but amazing, LOL. Guest guest
I am wanting to make labels for 2oz and 4oz double wall jars that I will be putting body butter in and would really appreciate if you could give me any information as to the size label to use? thanks, Doris
Guest guest
I have a laser printer and use 1 1/3 x 4 labels from www.onlinelables.com for both sizes. It works out great. I've also bought that size for my inkjet. But the best value I got it to buy the full size sheet of whatever material you use ( laser or inkjet) then download the temple for the size label you need and just work with those parameters and using a scrapbook cutter, cut to to size. That way you can also get more than one size on a sheet and not have so many different sizes of labels hanging around. For me this works out to be more cost effective. > > I am wanting to make labels for 2oz and 4oz double wall jars that > I will be putting body butter in and would really appreciate if > you could give me any information as to the size label to use? > > thanks, > Doris >
