Guest guest
Mitch There is no proposal to bring in AEDs unless you want to reprogram them. IF you look at the RC site you will see that they say it is OK to carry on using the old guidelines if that is necessary. One or two AEDs can't be reprogrammed so it's a case of replacing them when they are US. We are still using the old protocols. It does no harm. Of course the big aim is to get everyone on the same lines but this will obviously take a long time. There is no date set for this. Guest guest
Just as a point of interest folks the new guidelines officially came into affect several months ago !! In relation to having AED's reprogrammed for the new 'single shock, two min cycle' manufactorers are not nessecarily contacting there customers routinely it's down to you to contact them. Be prepared for what seems to becoming the industry standard responce, " unfortunately that particular model cannot be re programmed, and we are advising our customers to purchase replacement devices !!! " , grabbed by short and curlies springs to mind. Regards D Resuscitation Officer Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Re: AEDs Mitch There is no proposal to bring in AEDs unless you want to reprogram them. Guest guest
I know that Medical has a program where you can send your AED in and get it reprogrammed for $100 USD. - On 12/7/06 05:37, " PARA999@... Guest guest
Laerdal/ FR2s can be reprogrammed using their download onto a CF card. Their website gives details. It is easy to do. We have used this to update GP, Trust & some RAF defibs as we have re-trained the personnel in Guidelines 2005. We still wait for the Medtronic update for our LP20s & LP12s. If the machine is recent they reckon it will reprogramme but my training monophasic LP12 is too old. The older Forerunners can be reprogrammed with a standard PC card as the pccard adapter with the CF card prevents the battery clipping into place , but we have left those following the Resus Council advice. They are in very low risk areas where any AED intervention before arrival of an ambulance is a bonus. Ian
