Quite, but some of us do have to pay the course out of our own pockets,

over here we will have to fund ourselves from now on as our employer won't.

Apparently and from the European agency office we are now classified as

Paramedics rather than RGN's and - " paramedics do not require continuing

education " (this is a direct quote by the way and not designed to raise the

paramedic/RGN them and us debate).

Either way a certificate is provided which is HSE recognised and we update

our relevant and required skills by private study etc on a continuing

basis.

At least it reduces valuable time spent way from family etc, plus of course

the reduced cost of accommodation and expenses.

In our business somethings never change...

STORM; I wouldn't do it if I was paying for it myself!

This course has had no clinical up-dating for years and I don't know

how they get away with it; the manuals they produce were last up-

dated in 1994!! If you want a heavy O.H bias then is the man!!

Having said that I recognise that the distance learning makes it an

attractive option and it reduces time away from home if you are

having to do it when on leave. I am guilty as charged..I have done

the course there ... but not again. They are also a medic provider

company (OMSI). Horses for courses I suppose but I'd seriously look

elsewhere.

Has the European office reclassified night as day as

well?

A UK nurse must complete 5 days CME every time they re

register.

Currently this is 3 years-no word on what CME required

when they drop it to yearly.

So if you don't do the CME, you ain't registered.

Then you cant work as whatever they declare you to

be(great pooh bar of occidental Mindoro for instance).

I am moving into HR-its great, and a loose grip on

reality is an advantage.

NMC is yearly from this year.

You must indicate that you have undertaken at least five days(35 hours) of

learning activity RELEVANT to your proffessional practice in the last three

years. This may well change to yearly. The NMC do state what they mean by

learning activity.
