Is the site for all Your Soaping Needs! Bus: 480.443.4011 Sorry to bother everyone. I am writing to ask that, if possible, could you say some prayers, send up positive energy, or whichever is your way based upon your religion.......for my 17 year old daughter and my unborn grandson. My daughter is due Feb. 13th, and last night she had contractions all night. Nothing that got close together, but painful ones. She also had the " pressure " in the " nether area " . Today, she was exhausted, stayed home from school, and rested. Pains eased some, but she was sore. Around 4, the pains came back. And, they have not eased. Docs earlier said they thought she might be dehydrated, but that is not the case. She is currently at the hospital with her boyfriend. She is there to be monitored and checked. She is only 21 weeks along, please pray that this little guy (yes, it is a boy) is not attempting to come way before his time...............I can't wait to meet him and begin to spoil him, but I want him to stay put til he is DUE to come out!!!!! Thanks. Alice in SD

Guest guest
Kelley, contact Sidelines.org right now. They can get someone to talk to her, or e-mail her that has been through the same thing she is going through, no matter what happens. I’ve been a volunteer for years. I lost a precious little boy at four weeks and Sidelines got me through two long and horrible bed-rest of weeks. Right now, they can give her Magnesium to stop it if it’s labor. If she is in labor, she will probably be put on bed rest and that’s not a fun thing. They have options. Don’t be afraid to march in there, if she is in labor due to a cervical problem, and this is not Sidelines Volunteer talking, but the preemie mom )at Sidelines we offer support not medical advice, so this distinction is clear and ask that OB if they can do a cerclage if she is opening. They have one more week and then they cannot do that. There are two kinds, you wanted the one that closes her so she has to have a C section. It’s better than the purse cerclage, but if that’s what they offer. Sometimes, they can give progesterone shots once a week and keep her okay (they did a study at Yale when I was pregnant that came out in the New England Journal of Medicine. Women given progesterone once a week with a past history of loss, in the study, held on to their babies so much longer, they ended the study early, because it was not fair to not give it to everyone Your OB should know about this study. If you want me to I can hunt down the cite). Believe me, I’ve discussed it all with my OB who saved my two little ones. She was not my OB when Ben died. Get the best OB you can. If she is advancing in labor they may decide to let nature take its course. At 21 weeks it’s the policy of some hospitals to only do drastic measures at 24 weeks and over. So, if they stop it, and send her home, don’t let her move. There are conflicting studies on bed rest, but the day I went off it, when the insurance decided I was close enough, I had babies. I’m not a doctor and I can only suggest some of the things my doctor and I talked about. She came in every day she was on for two months and put up with my crying, hair pulling, boredom and stupid questions. We also formulated a plan based on my issues. Other people, one in my family, has a son because of it. There are no cure-alls, this is a scary time. I know, I know. I’ve been there and the terror is overwhelming. I’m praying.
