Work or supervised practice?

Most A & E or Minor Injury Units will allow supervised practice if you

explian who you are and be honest about what you want to get out of

the experiance. Best thing is to speak directly to the A & E

consultant or the senior nurse - he/she carries the can at the end

of the day.

Working in A & E or Minor Injury Units (with a contract) is a

completly different ball game.

The consultants and senior nurses must ensure you are competent and

also have qualifications which reflect their standards within that

dept. Even then you wont get top dollar - stacking shelves at Tesco

is financially more rewarding sometimes.

Prehaps the thing to do is approach your medical director of the

company you work for and get him/her to set you up with supervised

practice in a workplace that they have contects in. If your the

right type of person you may get lucky and be offered a position

after a few weeks. No harm asking.

Mike,

I am not sure of your title paramedic practioner or if you would be eligible to

be employed by an agency in a National Health setting but I can quite assure you

that as an RN with A & E/ICU qualifications that I not only get top dollar when

required but on weekends, bank holidays and night shift that top dollar is

multiplied 2 and even 3 times.

I can also pick which hospital I want to work in and what hours I will do. The

agency ensures I am competent not the A & E staff, they get involved if I prove

not to be competent.

Mentioning Tesco I gather you are in the UK and am surprised at what you say.
