Hi I bought some safflower oil, and Coconut oil as well as olive oil, now I

found recipes for the last 2, however I did not find any for safflower, Is there

not a recipe that any of you may know where I can use the oils. I also have and

canola oil.

Hi!

I've been searching through my files and those of my two groups and haven't

found much in the way of recipes calling specifically for safflower oil.

However, it is similar to sunflower oil and I would think that you could

substitute it in recipes calling for sunflower oil (they are in the same

family). It can go rancid more quickly than some oils and the info I ran across

suggests using it in combination with other more stable oils for that reason.

Safflower oil (Carthamustinctorius)has great moisturizing qualities and can

be used just on it's own for that purpose or makes a good oil to use in massage

oils.

If I turn up any further info I'll post it for you. In the meantime here's a

Balm for Dry Lips that uses it.

Blessings!

~*~HEALING BALM FOR DRY LIPS ~*~

Your lips tend to become dry and chapped during the winter or in wind or

summer's heat. Make a soothing lip balm at home with this easy technique:

Ingredients:

150 ml calendula oil or safflower oil, or a combination

1/2 tbsp grated beeswax

1 tbsp honey

5 drops vanilla essential oil

Method:

Pour calendula oil (or safflower oil) and beeswax in a heatproof glass bowl. Set

it in a pan of simmering water.

Heat this mixture until it melts by stirring.

Remove the mixture from heat and stir in vanilla essential oil and honey.

Now pour it into small glass containers or plastic pots, and refrigerate to set.

Voila, your lip balm is ready!

Jeneen,

You can use all of those oils to good effect in soap. I would put olive oil at

40%, coconut at 25%, and the other oils to make up the rest. Run it through a

lye calculator, and then soap away.
