Guest guest
Hi All, Hope your festive periods went without concern. I've got a favour to ask and would really appreciate your comments - We are in the process of being taken over by our Corporate Occ Health Department. They are adopting a 'start with a clean sheet' approach, so everything will go into the melting pot for consideration. I would like to gauge opinion as to what other Medic's are doing elsewhere, also what extra training they have received to fulfil these roles. From my experience (Medic's Refreshers etc) the emphasis seems to be on a dual Medic/Safety role. Is that the norm, or the exception? I am working on a platform with circa 130 POB, however the plans for the future are to reduce to <50 in ? 3years. This will of course mean that we really do need to market ourselves now and make ourselves available to support the operation. But I do not want it to be an opportunity for us to be a dumping ground for other activities that may be passed our way. I am aware of the HSE Operations Notice 55, which details secondary roles for medics, but I would just like a feel for what happens elsewhere and how it works. Feel free to reply to me personally or otherwise. Thanking you all in anticipation. Cheers Tony Patton Morecambe Gas Field
