Hello Barry,

Thanks for the message. In all honesty I cannot answer your question as the

matter has never arisen before. All I can suggest is for you to visit your local

hospital and an agency office and have a word with them, have your certs etc

with you to show them proof of type of work and legality of same etc.

Good luck as it is a very helpful real time hands on learning experience.

Regards

I am barry not rn ,but am interested in Experiencing similar to you.Is

there a possibility to work in The A & E,minor injuries as locum Health

Care Assistant (bank) or can you do it as Offshore Medic Status. Not sure

about how insurance,bureaucracy stands up.

Cheers barry

Yearly Medics refresher ???

,

I am also an RN and on occassion when the mood takes me and if there is

nothing good on TV I give an agency a call and spend a couple of

evenings in the battle zone of the public hospital emergency rooms. I

have become aquainted with some of the housemen and registrars and am

invited to get stuck in, (complete with some 14 year old information !).

It is not only good experience with a learning bit attached but also

comes with some extra loot, however the food remains awful and I take my

own.

Perhaps you may give it a go and see what you think ?

Cheers

Hello

I was replying to Barrys post and was not meant as a response to

yours. :)

I take it that Barry is not a RN and that is why I said he wouldn't

necessarily get top dollar. People with non-standard qualifications

are often placed in a grade below that which they have been

previously employed at. ie South African doctors often have to drop

a grade, Austrailian nurses often have to drop a grade and so on.

I was not asking about myself working for an agency or in A & E. I

already have that covered in my normal contract.

At the end of the day it is up to the head of dept if a person works

in their dept. Be they employed by an agency or the dept direct. Win

these people over and people such as Barry are half way home as the

head of dept would often give recomendations to agencies etc.

As for my title it is not paramedic practitioner. That only relates

to a web site for which I have an email address.
