Guest guest
I've been making my own labels using full-sheet labels first from Office Depot, then some I bought online from Onlinelabels.com, $30.95 (incl. shipping)/250 sheets, purchased 6-24-2007. For a 1/2 oz. (15 ml) bottle I can get 15 labels per sheet; that's $0.00825 per label PLUS ink. It's the ink that's spendy! Have never figured out the cost of ink per label. I don't currently use glossy, etc. labels. Yes, they will run if they get wet. Many things I order or purchase have similarly runny labels so I don't worry about it. I have an HP C5180 ink jet printer. Taught myself how to use " text boxes " in Word a couple years ago & use text boxes to size the labels just right for each bottle. Most labels have several text boxes inside a text box in order to get all the info. in the right place, plus color. I format the label so it's one piece w/ a specific front & back. The neat thing about a text box is you can grab it & move it anywhere on the page, format inside it, put color inside it, etc. Once you get a label for a certain size bottle it's just a matter of changing the info., color, etc. for each product. Each label takes atleast a couple hours to figure out. The not-so-fun part is that the on-screen color is NOT the same as the printer color. Once you figure out about what color to expect from the printer you tweak the on-screen colors accordingly, and print samples along the way on plain paper to check it. What program do you all use to keep track of ingredient inventory, product inventory, & sales? Deb Delemara Botanicals
