DOS (Dreaded Orange Spots) aren't harmful, just ugly. It means the oils are oxidizing for some reason. I find soybean oil to cause DOS, but this is just anecdotal. Guest guest
I have made cp soap where DOS was a problem. I got rid of the soap in a number of ways: put a bar or so into a container and use it for washing dishes. Put the container under the running tap and take it out when you have enough water in the sink. grate it up and add washing soda, bicarbonate of soda and extra caustic soda and use it for washing your clothes. Oh, yes. Add lots of water and turn it into a creamy/liquid soap. grate it and and water until you get a sort of creamy mixture and add to lots of bicarb (all in a large mouthed container) add an essential oil of choice and use it as a kitchen sink, stove, floor cleaner. After wiping on spray with cheap vinegar and wipe off grate it up and add the dregs of ground coffee with some water and turn it into a 'workers' soap or hand kitchen soap. Great for getting out the smell of onion or garlic. Now, all of a sudden you have a very useful soap instead of a nuisance.
