Guest guest
- She's very bright, but intelligence isn't always the deciding factor. My grandfather was a brilliant scientist, but on diet and nutrition he was about as wrong-headed as they get. He bought the simplistic notion that eating fat makes you fat, so he ate all kinds of grains, fruit juice, natural sweeteners, soy, you name it -- and died of cancer. I think it has more to do with personality types. In my girlfriend's case, authority and credentials are paramount, so despite the fact that I probably know a lot more about nutrition than 95% of the doctors out there, my opinion is worthless -- my schooling was in electrical engineering and filmmaking. And partly because Uffe Ravnskov included some unfortunate personal experimentation in his book, his book is worthless. But mostly, she's completely unwilling to believe that the AMA and the AHA and other such organizations, not to mention the vast majority of doctors could possibly be (a) uneducated on the subject and/or ( willing to do anything to jeapordize people's health, no matter what the reason. And I seem to have inadvertently turned it into a matter of personal pride for her, so I don't think I'll ever be able to make any headway on the subject, or if not never, certainly not until she's feeling a lot more pain than she is now, and even though I suppose I probably shouldn't, I feel pretty guilty about it. >your girlfiend doesn't respond to Price's research? Knowing you (at least >online) I would assume that she's a pretty bight lady. How can she ignore >the research????? Also, as your health improves, she may come around--you >fell in love despite your differences, right?? If my health makes some major further gains, maybe, but I'm still in pretty bad shape compared to most people. -

Guest guest
>>>>Don't despair, Suze! ------->LOL There's always CONVERSION. Heck, people do it for religion all the time. I guess I'm lucky in that my partner goes along with my notions about nutrition. Actually, NT tastes much better than other food anyway (although I wouldn't try to serve him liver, raw or otherwise). He doesn't like butter or cheese, but now will eat whole yogurt and any meat I put down in front of him. Have hope and offer to do all/most of the cooking. does the shopping, laundry, and lots of cleaning so that I have more time for food prep. Pretty good deal, in my mind. Yes, I'm a lucky lady and getting married to boot! ----------->Thanks . I guess I haven't even really been thinking about this much since maybe last summer. But it's creeping back into my consciousness...especially since i just turned 40, and Maine has a small enough pool of eligible bachelors over 30 anyways, much less any that might be into NT/WAP! Although, i do consider boston " within range " so that's a considerably larger pool. But, i think you are right....*conversion* is probably what it's going to come down to :-) Glad that's worked out for you. hey, congratulations on your engagement! :-) there's only one thing i don't understand.....who doesn't like *butter*?????????? There is a very small pool of bachelors at any given time. So you are REALLY unlikely to bump into one randomly. So far the successful matches I've seen were from 1. Dating clubs, 2. Internet dating, or 3. Radio shows (surprisingly!). If you are presented with a huge list of bachelors, it is a lot easier to find one with a similar mindset! The idea is to select the guy with the traits you want, THEN date him. I won't go into details publicly, but it worked for me! My hubby thinks a lot like I do, so when we changed diets, he was pretty much on board. Heidi
Guest guest
LOL with empathy....there is hope!!! I got married for the first time at age 47 to a low fat " expert " . He would try to sneak his salad dressings on my salad ....like I wouldn't notice! We've been married two years now and he's eating my raw butter and cream with the best of them! I did it very slowly and allowed him to keep his Better than Butter and nasty thick low fat dressings in the fridge. Of course when we ate mine was way better tasting and his taste buds slowly took over his brain and now ..whaala...he almost all NT. He still trims off the fat from meat but then I get it. BTW... I wasn't dating at all at 46 and finally put up an ad on some dating sites and met my sweet husband. Plus at the time I was vegetarian and that was my big dating how-to-get along. Boy did I do a turn around in 3 years. As a side ..... I posted a question about teeth and am real curious what all of you have been eperiencing in that area. My bad teeth is what got me investigation NT about 1 1/2 years ago. Take care, Lynn
Guest guest
Exactly Heidi...that's what I did. I used the rather large pool of easy to find men on the internet and then wrote an ad for the qualities I wanted. I went out with LOTS of fellows for about 8 months. When I met Curt I knew his mindset was similar and he was kind...it's worked out wonderfully. Well...LOL.. I do have to say married for the first time at 47 I've had some intense life lessons in flexibility! Guest guest
Suze, You have two things working in your favor: 1. Most men don't give a hoot about nutrition (politically correct or otherwise) 2. Most men LOVE to eat. When I say " conversion " I don't mean that we should proselytize---nobody likes to have dogma shoved down their throat.
