In other words, do they like the beach? 2. Can you kill these things by going to Saunas and hot tubs? 3. I can't get these things off my face. I wear bathing cap at night with medicated menthol powder inside, goggles, and ear plugs. I wash with Denorex and Selsun Blue as well. I thought it was helping, but it seems a new batch just started again. 4. I just started the Shani protocol. I have finished spraying Nylar and will be putting down pyrethrin/Diat Earth as well. Question is: do you continue vacuuming afterwards? Are you supposed to vacuum and put down Pyr/D Earth each day? Anyone know. Thank you anyone who reads this long post and offers their answers/insight. I, like so many on here, am going through a hard time with this and feeling so alone. Guest guest
I never passed it either. My husband and in-laws never had a bite. Lived with in-laws for 6 weeks. Using epsom salts was a turning point for me. Spending all day in the ocean should get them off...not sure about the eggs, though. Wait 5-7 days and when they hatch they will die from salt water also. Make sure you wash sheets & clothes everyday. You don't want to reinfest from that...don't reuse anything. Also make sure the place you stay has the a/c pumping. Use baking soda in work space & home. Can you sprinkle and leave day & /or night. Also around where bed frame touches the floor. That kills them. Also just got Orange TKO & it works well. See an LLMD and treat internally. If you move, it will help, but if they are internal, you will bring them. Things won't be nearly as bad when you move as long as you keep up rituals. Bottom line...find out if you have any chronic issues and get better. That is the long term solution. We cleaned my husbands workspace, vacuumed etc....at night when everyone was gone. Once a week. He sprayed everything down with lysol daily. Also, he changed his shoes at work...bagged the home shoes then changed again before he came home. Things WILL get better!!!!!!! Spending time outside of the house boosts moral and I felt less symptoms. Maybe you can still go just don't sit on any upholstered furniture and stay in a hotel...? Guest guest
Hi Aandraya, I am currently experiencing the following: 1. bites. Some bites are pin-prick bits - a simple red dot. Others look like small clusters of bits. Others are just red rashes. 2. mysterious appearance of red track marks in a line. I don't think these are bites, and appear usually in shower. I haven't seen these in a couple weeks. 3. I have never seen or experienced movement under my skin, or bugs coming out of my skin. 4. I have no fungus or black dots that I have seen. 5. I feel the bugs moving, especially on my face. Feel the spider web feeling too. 6. i have never seen or have been able to capture one. I thought I had one, but the exterminator could not id it. I think they lost it. They later admitted that they were not experts in mites. 7. My health was good prior to this, now i am a wreck. I have lost 15 pounds. This all started when i started getting bit once in awhile and I thought I had bed bugs. But when I couldn't trap any, and they started living ON me, I figured they were probably mites. I am not sure if this matches what you have seen. When you say anti-fungals, are you talking about simple over the counter products? Thank you for any info. Guest guest
The losing weight especially makes me think chronic infections, crawling sensations... Do you see anything floating in your environment? Antifungals like sporonax and Vfend are very good, both Rx. You can try herbal antiungals too like high dose allicin, it was not enough for me. Watch for changes in your health and skin symptoms. I had the red lines you are talking about. Consider seeing a llmd- What state do you live in? It's not just an external issue. I know it seems like it is, I lost months trying to treat externally. What do the red dots look like? Flat? Blister like? Bumps? Open sores?AandrayaOn Dec 21, 2011, at 9:14 PM, jdavid7476 <jdavid7476@...> wrote: Hi Aandraya, I am currently experiencing the following: 1. bites. Some bites are pin-prick bits - a simple red dot. Guest guest
Hi you asked : .. How do they respond in sea water? ANSW IN CAPS..OK ? THEY DIE IN SEA WATER ,but you might have to hlep them die try this : http://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/dog_mange_cure.html The mix: 2 tblspns borax (20 mule team Borax laundry booster 16 oz peroxide (3%) 32 oz water. mix it , and the borax nuetralizes the peroxide, it is painless & the is no fizz or bruning from this mix & it is cheap & for the really bad areas step it up to 8 tbls borax 1 cup of water 1 cup perox both are painless & very effective I was thinking of taking a trip to Florida and practically stay in the ocean all day GOOD IDEA I know they like humidity, but do they stay on you in the ocean? THEY SOAK OUT BUT BEST TO GIVE THEM A HAND BY GOING IN THE TUB WITH 1 CUP borax & 1/8 cup dawn dish soap & keep it stired up so soap drowns them & they don't crawlin your ears One poster slept with rag on his face soaked in of 1 tbl borax & 1 gallon of water . So I tried it for 30 mins & it removed them from my face , I did it 2 times daiily In other words, do they like the beach? SALT WATER KILLS BUGS , but you have to hlep it with other things also 2 baths per week in Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent 1 cup kills hthem real we'll, changing up treatment chemicals keep the from getting used to any one thing . Rinsing when done & refilling tub walf way & adding 2 tbls coconut oil & dipping under for 5 mins or so is when all crawling stopped .....for 2 years now Praise His Holy name God is good .. .. He annoints my head with oil my cup runneth over 2. Can you kill these things by going to Saunas and hot tubs? ANSW: YES SAUNAS SOAK THEM OUT , I DON'T know about hot tubs 3. I can't get these things off my face. I wear bathing cap at night with medicated menthol powder inside, goggles, and ear plugs. ANTIBIOTIC DROPS ERASES THEM FROM THE EARS , QUICK CLINICS PRESCRIBE THEM IF YOUR EAR IS RED INSIDE & ESPECIALLY IF YOU SAY ANTIBIOTIC DROPS cured it last time .follow the direction , use for 10 days , cured me 3 times of this bug , in 5 years I wash with Denorex and Selsun Blue as well. I thought it was helping, but it seems a new batch just started again. WACK THE NEW BATCH WITH THE BORAX & PEROXIDE MIX INSTANTLY I KEEP A SMALL BOTTLE IN MY POCKET AT ALL TIMES . 4. I just started the Shani protocol. I have finished spraying Nylar and will be putting down pyrethrin/Diat Earth as well. Question is: do you continue vacuuming afterwards? NO VACUAMING , LET IT SIT . IF THE DUST DRIVES YOU NUTS MIST IT WITH 1 CUP EPSOM SALTS & 4 cups of water to lock it into the glaze of the epsom when it dries then the dust won't bother you .. Or use 2 tbls cococnut oil & 48 oz of water in a 48 oz chapin sprayer from Ace hardware, $12.00 it is very convienent for quick spraying . Are you supposed to vacuum and put down Pyr/D Earth each day? NO VACUAMMING POISOIN UP ...( ps DE DESTROYS VACUUMS FAST, BY THE WAY Anyone know.Thank you anyone who reads this long post and offers their answers/insight. I, like so many on here, am going through a hard time with this and feeling so alone. Thanks again.!jdavid Inbox | << Newer | Olde Live hospital clean , strip the contaminated thing out ouf your life into contractor bags & wash everthing in Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent 1 cup per gallon , rinse with 1 gal water & r 2ups Windex with butyl ethelyene in the ingredients on the label .Then paint the cieling & walls & seal the floors with floor sealer . Bugs can't navigate oil , I sprayed every morning cause I knew they were lurking near me in the am , a perfect time to sop them in some oily water & or epsom salt , or Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent . It works . Killing them constantly , sooner or later there is no more . No one listens to bug stories , it make them itch , they don't want to hear it, it best not to wear people out with it . Guest guest
Hi, J !I feel for you and your situation. Do you live alone? Me and my family experienced the same as you: doctors wouldn´t help and exterminators had too little knowledge. At last we found one exterminator that knew a little bit more and who didn´t just spray pyrethrin, but also used an IGR. THat helped a lot more and also DE put at all floor boards and cracks. The moving made the big difference for us. No more bites, but still infections as leftovers from the mites. Birdmites die in over 70 degrees C after a while. Guest guest
So the epsoms is simple. I just grabbed a few handfuls and scrubbed my body down in the shower head/hair to toe. Multiple times. especially in the itchy, stinging, biting places. I scrubbed it in my hair multiple times and didn't fully wash out after showering. once dry I used baking soda on my body head to toe. Took handfuls and wiped a thin layer all over and poured a ton in my hair and rubbed on my scalp. They mostly didn't bother my hair after doing this for a few.days. Also I put a thin layer of baking soda in my bed at night. I also had those weird track marks on the inside of my left wrist. Bird mites were confirmed for us. My derm seems to think all mites burrow in humans though... Finally, a LLMD is a lyme doc, but they can help you diagnose other things such as fungus, co-infections, etc... Guest guest
Hi jdavid. Sorry you are going through this. Last Christmas was a miserable one for me but i'm looking forward to this one. I still have a few crawlies but nothing like last year. I had what you described along with them in my ears, crawling around my eyeballs, in my throat, and under my skin. So please know that if you follow the suggestions here and keep up with it, things will also get better for you. I preferred taking sea salt baths over epsom salts when i had the flat red bumps or red streaks. I ran the salts under a little water and exfoliated with it. When i felt a lot of crawlies/biting/stinging, i took an Arm & Hammer, peroxide, Dawn bath, which is very soothing. I still take one once a week. Another favorite is having a sulfur soap bath. Stay away from all fragrances. I had a lot on my face and hairline. When that happened i knew i had to spray my ceilings because they were dropping from there. I also used a pad soaked with peroxide or witch hazel and i could see the fibers/hairs on the pad. That gave me temporary relief. I exfoliate my face every night with Aveeno daily exfoliating and follow with sulfur soap which is suggested on the bar for acne. My face isn't bothered anymore and my skin is clear. No one who has been to my home has gotten it but i can understand your fear about spreading them. Guest guest
Some ideas came from birdmites.org... some from our own ingenuity and desperation. It is interesting that we came up with similar solutions! My poor hubby with those damn baseboards and stuffing all that putty-type stuff under the drywall behind the baseboards. It took him forever to do crouched down on the floor. The whole house is done that way now and he did a great job on the baseboards. I think Marie did as much as we did to her house. From: "Aandraya" <aandraya@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, December 23, 2011 9:29:04 PMSubject: Re: Re: spending christmas alone - trying to find hope Wow, , we did a lot of the same procedures. I didn't know anyone with this problem, had to figure it out myself. Wish I had known all the steps you took.AandrayaOn Dec 23, 2011, at 10:12 PM, Goldstein@... wrote: Hi jdavid,I'll give you my 2 cents worth on that. First off, do you have carpets? It is much harder to get rid of any of this with carpeting and pets. Mites hide in carpets and it is hard to get down to where they are mostly likely hiding. For most people it is best to move and to get rid of anything in the apartment that could be hiding the mites. This may be a "no duh" for you, so I apologize in advance there. All the things recommended by Cecilia are great. We used Windex since it has ammonia D in it which does kill them. We sprayed everything multiple times, including ceilings, all walls, floors until soping wet. Got rid of throw rugs and carpeting completely, but we owned house. We actually put in a new flooring downstairs where the whole mess started. We lived with cement floors for a year and I continued to mop and spray the floor. We plugged all holes connecting drywall and replaced baseboards (my husband did it -- lucky him). We used a type of putty material that insects and spiders cannot penetrate behind baseboards. We sprayed and sprayed and kept on vacuuming, changing vacuum bags frequently and left vacuum outside, covered the hose nozzle with duct tape when not in use, vacuumed up DE so that the whole inner vacuum had DE inside of it with the dust. Went through several vacuums. I used the sticky tape too, including the sticky tape on a long handle (from Walmart) and did surfaces with that too. I also sprayed our air bed every night with grain alcohol and vinegar and cleaned it off with a disposable mop. We slept on the air bed for a year. Sheets were changed nightly and I ironed (steam pressed) sheets and blankets (one blanket is all we used). My face like so many here was the focus of my concern since the mites went into my eyes, nose and my husband's ears. Not to mention camping out in my hair. I used Vick's vaporub on the face, earplugs in my ears. I wore plastic bags over my feet covered with duct tape and wore disposable gloves taped to my clothing. Anything to keep these damn bugger off me. I also took sleep meds and antidepressants to sleep. We did not move and couldn't move. If you feel it would be wise to move, I'd do so. This is so super costly for all of us. I'm sure we lost $40,000 in the process since we threw out much new furniture, paid for pest management, had to remove rugs that were new and carpets, replaced downstairs flooring, remove asbestos below vinyl, and the list went on and on. It probably cost us closer to $60,000... have nothing left but our house now, but the best part is that our house is now free from those devils and we're still here paying our huge mortgage but making it.I used a steam press on all clothing which is similar but smaller to the type used in dry cleaners. Killed mites in all seams. Changed most clothing to cheap disposable shoes and clothing and bought new frequently. Used the oven on items that I could heat up to 150 degrees and keep (like kids toys and some pillows). Used plastic covers on pillows and slept without pillow cases. Used towels from Walmart that I sewed together to make a larger towel (microfiber). Mites don't like those and I don't think mites like polyester or nylon either. You can buy sleepware made of sateen material and sheets too which has a tighter weave and when it is dried in the dryer it gets very very hot. Mites don't penetrate that material. So many ideas we all have and have shared here. We all care a lot about each other here. It is a wonderful group, so at least you have what some of us did not have at the beginning, a support group. Just keep sharing. You are about at the same stage as - a horrific stage - most of us felt absolutely hopeless and terrified and most of us felt suicidal too - most of us are much much much better now. It has been several years for us and you can get rid of them, but it takes a lot of effort and courage. Lots of risk taking and sacrificing too. Best wishes and may 2012 be a much better year for you.We did go to a Lyme Literate MD and that was a God send for us. She put us on antibiotics and started treating us for Lyme, Bartonella and Babesia. We treated actively for a year and would be better, then go downhill again after getting off meds. I realized about 6 months ago that we needed to get back in treatment so I did. I believe that the mites brought me Bartonella. I had pre-existing Lyme Disease. For me the meds were absolutely essential. If you get rid of the mites and your energy comes back, and you no longer feel sick you probably did not get Lyme or coinfections. Some of the mites do carry some strange stuff, and others didn't get any of this... Doris did not. From: "jdavid7476" <jdavid7476@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, December 23, 2011 4:06:23 PMSubject: Re: spending christmas alone - trying to find hopeHi Cecilia,Yes. Guest guest
Hi, J david!|You have done a lot! Great! We treated the environment every 3 weeks 4 times with the IGR, Pyrethrins (first on ly pyrethrins and that doesnt´s help), DE. It took 3 times until we noticed a difference. It became much better (together with vacuuming every day, laudrying everything with borax and ammonia every day and steam pressing everything everyday) but when moving we became free from the mites (but have infections left that are strange and come and go)Keep treating your environment every 3 weeks.I think Aandraya; sarah, LInda have a lot of good advice and also treating internally. We don´t have any in Sweden, but if you have maby go see a LLD doctor, to check if you have any of those problems/infections that often go togehter with the mites.Take care!KR Cecilia From: jdavid7476 <jdavid7476@...> bird mites Sent: Saturday, December 24, 2011 1:06 AM Subject: Re: spending christmas alone - trying to find hope Hi Cecilia, Yes. Guest guest
I can totally sympathize. Thanks to a divorce, I moved out of the infested home and it became my ex's residence. Who has no idea of what's going on, as the mites hate him. (And so do a lot of humans - LOL!) What I did: the first move helped a lot. And I did bring my possessions with me, including my clothes. The ones that used to itch, don't any more. But I have moved twice since then, to come back to my home state from the West Coast. Hot tubs, saunas do help, too. Salt water, like the ocean or just Epsom salts in a warm to hot bath. Have not tried DE, borax or other things all over the house. Because I left. Another thing: Ivermectin from a feed store or online. The liquid animal kind. One cc per hundred pounds of your weight. Every day, then taper back to 3 x a week. I did it with no side effects and it was very helpful. If you have pets, use Revolution, which is Selamectin, very similar to ivermectin. I was so tired at first, and that was before the divorce. Back to normal now, as far as the mites affecting my energy level. Weight loss will make you tired, too, if you lose too much weight, which I did. From 140 lbs. to 110 to 102. Now back to normal weight. Hope this helps! Jan > > Hi all. > > Sorry for the long post. > > Well I just told my family that I can not join them for Christmas. The first time ever. Guest guest
One more thing: I was a hermit for awhile and then noticed that no one I knew was bothered. So I quit worrying. I know of no one that has caught this from me. I had sex with my then-husband and he was fine, too. My relative recently died of CJ Disease (mad cow in humans). I visited him and he showed no signs of this. He died peacefully in his sleep soon after I moved back to my home state, where he lives. Autopsy was done - it's CJ disease, not me. You will be depressed if you stay house-bound. Try getting out more and you may be surprised that nothing happens to anyone as a result. You can't kick this in a state of depression. > > Hi all. > > Sorry for the long post. > > Well I just told my family that I can not join them for Christmas. The first time ever. Guest guest
And I just spent Christmas with a bunch of my cousins. No problem. And I do not have any visible symptoms at this point. But leaving your home and getting fresh air is a great remedy. My cousins are just fine - no signs of this. > > Hi all. > > Sorry for the long post. > > Well I just told my family that I can not join them for Christmas. The first time ever. Guest guest
Hi Jan!|Glad to have you and your experiences around!Cecilia From: jan.morin28 <no_reply > bird mites Sent: Thursday, February 2, 2012 8:11 AM Subject: Re: spending christmas alone - trying to find hope One more thing: I was a hermit for awhile and then noticed that no one I knew was bothered.
