Guest guest
For those in the show the standard C-Collar for the US Military is the adjustable " Ambu Perfit ACE " in OD or white. You could probably score a few from any sympathetic medic or medical supply clerk if you need them. They've become the standard for FDNY EMS in NYC recently as well as having been in use with several other services around here for a few years and I prefer them to the " Laerdal Stiffneck Select " . I was wondering if anyone here has had hands on experience with the " Ferno Wiz-Loc " , it looks interesting and is available in OD as well as pink, supposedly it can cover a wider range of sizes than the Ambu or Laerdal, both of which have small/pediatric counterparts in the " Mini-Perfit ACE " and " Stiffneck Pedi-Select " , respectively. In my main BLS bus here in NYC I usually have between 4 and 8 adult and a few pediatric adjustable collars as well as a few of our remaining pedi & talls (No-Neck/Neckless collars are used most often by far here and when FDNY went adjustable they pretty much disappeared from our stocks and we worked through our short and regulars but the talls have been tough to use... with the average patient being closer in size to my fat ass than Kate Moss I don't expect to get rid of the talls anytime soon, not for lack of trying (have made a habit of taking one and an adjustable anytime a stable pt looks vaguely close to being able to take a tall.)) and I keep an adult and pedi Ambu adjustable in my tech bag (one of the nice things about the big all in one Iron Duck Breathsaver or PSP A600 type bags!). Thanks in advance for your input. Stay Safe everyone! -bill Bill NREMT-B murphquake@...
