Hi Nadia,

sorry, I have just read your email, so sorry didn't reply before!

I would say that, if you have until September, that should be enough time!

It s very difficult to advise someone on exactly how to divide the time, since it s very personal. I, for one, have always struggled with Anatomy. So had to spend a long time doing it - and still managed to miss some basic questions!!!!

I would say you could start with Master Dentistry 1, 2 and 3 - that would give you a headstart, since these books cover most of the syllabus.

Scully is also obviouslly very important, try to think of the most prevalent conditions and make sure you cover those (from the top of my head I can think of hepatitis, haemophillia, diabetes, anemia, coronary disease, sjogren syndrome...it s quite a bit, but if you write them down and tick it off a list as you cover them, you should be fine). Remember, this exam is about doing 50% - try not to get stuck with random complicated and rare subjects because, even if they do appear, chances are you might get it wrong anyway - COVER THE BASICS!

I have done most of my studies from books, but there is also a lot of online material! So, even if you don't have the books, you can still make it!

From now, until then, if you manage to do 3 hours daily consistently and maybe take a couple of weekes before the exam to revise, you should be fine.

Physiology is also important, and Immunology (there was a lot of it last september!)

I failed the first time, but I would have passed if I were a bit more confident.

When it comes to the exam itself, make sure you read the question and remember, sometimes a question will have within it the answer for another, not necessarily the next one. So you might have to scan the "papers" to try and find the link.

One example was a question of pulp electric test. I didn't know and still don't the values for reversible pulpitis, irreversible pulpitis or necrotic pulp. But there were 3 or 4 questions very similar, and if you read it carefully enough you could come to the conclusion that 0 is for necrotic pulp, something in between is normal (around 40). The maximum was 80, and I assumed that would be for irreversible pulpitis, whereas 40-80 would be for revesible. As I say, I had never read about it before or since, but it seemed quite obvious once you used the information given in the questions together.

You will have to forgive me for spilling this al out like this, but I don't always find the inspiration, but you asked me for help... : )

Let's keep in touch and, if there is anything I can help you with, please let me know and I will try my best.

P.s.: where are you from and how long ago did you graduate?

Best of luck and start studying without delay!!! I am sure you wil be fine!

x

Ana
